sand is better for the cars, but we have nails and chains on the tires. also.. today there was nothing we only salt or spread sand if it is like icy.. really icy and wet.. like can u imagine who it would look in spring if we spread sand all days during winter? also salt makes cars rust.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
We're in more of mixed climate, more likely to get ice refreezing at night. I agree sand is more environmentally friendly, but don't know enough about how well it works versus salt.

Exactly.

Yep. Here, if it snows, you're basically guaranteed to have ice within a day or two due to melting and refreezing.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
They do salt a bit around here, and it does have a lot of drawbacks. They also use a good deal of gravel, and every spring they drive around every street to clean it up.
Do you have winter tires on your car Eldo? If not drive carefully.
I guess I should be flattered that you feel I'm worth the effort.
Video is gorgeous.
That might not be the response you were looking for though. Here you go;
Oh, for fucks sake.

No, I don't. This is the first time we've had significant layering snow in ... I think about two years. I'll be sure to be careful, definitely.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
It most certainly should never snow here. Screws everything up... we cannot seem to cope. Snow should be exclusively for far north, far south and up really high. Not here!!

Norc wrote: well then don't come here complaining when u end up in a ditch...
No ditches here, thank you very much. But I did come home to find that no one in the house had shoveled anything. So I just spent the better part of an hour as soon as I got back clearing the driveway and about 20 feet on the side of the road that the snowplow didn't get so I had somewhere to park.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
It's a 2010 Toyota Prius. The car belongs to my mom and is the one that I learned to drive in. I'm not the only one who drives it.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
Actually Norc, I was a little disappointed in the video. I thought you were going to jump in a snow drift, slide down a hill, reach in a snow drift and pull out Leopold...or something entertaining like that.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
It's a good enough car for my purposes, and fairly roomy and comfortable on the inside, but there have been a crapload of recalls and problems, especially with the steering column.
Re: Tales of Home [4]
We got a new car last year. Only issue I have it that it is easy to confuse it. It beeps at you for no reason sometimes... not sure it even knows why.

i was on my way to school, that's the only time of day when there is actually proper light so that my phone actually films stuff, not just shadows
Re: Tales of Home [4]
So daytime is currently about 15 minutes long?

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Hey! Tomorrow I want you to smuggle Leopold into school. That should make for a great video.

especially with the steering column.- Eldo
American cars have steering columns? from the way they drive I'd always just assumed they hadnt bothered, its not like US cars go round corners very well unless its Nascar, and then they can only turn one way.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Gee, when I was in school we used to pass notes about the girl two rows up. The current generation edits videos and splices in soundtracks on their smart phones.
But I wish I got as much good out of the snow as Leopold does.
