Re: Tales of Home [4]
Wow, that's proper winter.
And I liked your story as well Nora. I probably have some similar stories in my family, though I'm sure not from as harsh conditions. The climate and location somehow make it all the more impressive.
As for your stories from the 60s and 70s. Well, I'm certainly very glad for both the insulation and for my oven.

I like hugging trees, & Norc's trees remind me of reindeer antlers, covered in velvety fur, & lovely white Birch trees, whose bark is snow white & also feels like velvet to the touch.

Well, congratulations.
But, wait, does this mean no baked goods as it happened on a sunday?

Oh, and i found this we talked about ages a month or so ago completely by accident. Sadly just when it became less relevant.

Sounds nice.
As for the Gif, I think you couldn't find it when we were talking about it before. So a bit of a coincidence I stumbled over it just when you had the sun return.

Just a picture of some firewood and me lighting some fireplaces.
(Bored? Maybe a little bit. )
Hopefully it might make some people feel a little bit warmer.

You did too? Great. Don't think I've seen that.
Great (slightly bored?) minds think alike, I guess.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Damn, I miss chopping wood. It allows you time to think while doing something useful, or vent some frustration if that's needed. A most useful pass-time

I get what you're saying, Ringo.
Though in the summer some of the wood is still so wet that going at it with an axe is just counterproductive. And chopping it with an automatic axe isn't half as much fun.

Hmm, yes, takes some of the fun out (until you grow tired of chopping, of course)

Hello Az, looking stunning as usual. Hugs from Hasia and me. We are semi arid here so Silver Star Mountain was a skiing winter wonderland, Swan Lake was silvery with ice and in the valley when I went to work the sidewalks were white with fluffy snow and all was silent. When I came out of work the wind was screaming, the walkways were sheer ice but the snow on top, feet of it was gone and I was pelted with enormous hail which I have not seen for years and only in summer. Then after a couple of blocks it was raining so hard you could barely see for one foot. When I finally got home my face and eyes were red from being hit with the stones. Clayton had decided not to take the car and just go for a leisurely walk and when he got home he looked hilarious and had frost bite on his cheeks. And no one forecasted any of it, maybe because it is too hard. We still have not been able to build one snowman because although it might snow up to the middle of the cars it either gets blown away or melts and dangerous ice is formed and then the weather dips to minus 18 Cel. and it is very cold.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
I had to drive home from work in the snow and ice in the little two-wheel-drive sedan I usually drive. I'm supposed to go into work really early again tomorrow, though depending on the whether they might let me stay home. If I do go in I'll probably see if I can borrow the 4WD. Though hopefully the plows will have come through by then.
