If that horse stands in the snow for long enough does it become a grey horse or a white horse?

no its not.
I am sitting here in bed under the duvet with 9 layers on, including 4 jumpers, a scarf, hat, and huge socks, I am a block of ice.
edit I forgot the gloves (with no fingers), you can only see my nose poking out.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
the view from my classroom.. yes my school looks like a fucking prison. it's around two... though the phone didn't pick it up, it was a bit darker.
this next one is earlier in the morning, around half past ten, just started getting daylight. i started late so it was light (and i was alone at the bus stop) so i took a few photos
this one i took before going to training. around 17.30 completely dark this car is ours, though we don't use it anymore. it's a good measure to see how much it has snowed
edit: forgot the awesome boots
Re: Tales of Home [4]
When we get that much snow it's cause for celebrating cause most stuff is cancelled. :lol:But that much snow is a once every 5-10 years occurence here.
Edit: awesome boots!

You were waiting on a bus?! What kind of buses you got over there? Do they have snow ploughs on the front?

Re: Tales of Home [4]
erm... i dunno what to answer to that we have busses, yes, and they work fine, mostly.. except we have a new bus complany now and for some reason they changed all the fucking busses to hybrid shit and last winter they crashed and just .. yeah.. i think i posted some videos last year. they re-named a hill, goddammit, because they kept failing and loose control and end up side-ways.. but they do go. and as long as the driving conditions aren't crazy, they are more or less on time. also they have to drive with chains on the tyres when it's basically just ice and water (though being a totally new company from the flattest part of sweden with hired drives from everywhere aka. not local and new crazy routes, they often don't have time or the experience to but them on when they must...)
Re: Tales of Home [4]
Wow, wonderfull pictures Nora. Really atmospheric.
Though busses falling over does sound a bit scary.
All the snow we had has disappeared already. We're getting some on sunday, but not much. Really not looking good for the next week or two. And last year we had snow in early November.

Yeah, I know.
Lower taxes and winter in mid October. Maybe Tromsø is the place to live after all.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
My parents actually almost exclusively uses a wood burning oven. And that works very well. Though we don't buy the firewood. We have a place we get it from in the summer. I think a lot of other people uses that method of heating as well as it's not unusual for the elictricity bills to rise quite dramatically in winter.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
well. no. i think very few people in norway use oil or fuel or coal for heating. normal fireplaces with wood is much more common, as we have a lot of woods. Our grandfather always supplies us for the winter. we also use electric ovens. we have one in the living room (which doesn't really make a difference because it is really large), one in the bathroom and me and my sister have one portable oven each the power-bills tend to rice during winter since most of the el- in norway is based on water, but we don't use much power during summer, so it's not that much of a problem also wet summers is good for winterMrs Figg wrote:so do you have special fuel bills because you will need to keep your heating on all the time?
Re: Tales of Home [4]
Oh! I have a cool picture taken from a NorthFjordlandian bus! I was sitting across from the driver so I could see out the front. The snowplow is just ahead of us, cutting a new road. There's a row of little red stakes that the plow follows to stay roughly on top of the old road. You can just see one of the stakes to the left.Norc wrote:erm... i dunno what to answer to that we have busses, yes, and they work fine, mostly.. except we have a new bus complany now and for some reason they changed all the fucking busses to hybrid shit and last winter they crashed and just .. yeah.. i think i posted some videos last year. they re-named a hill, goddammit, because they kept failing and loose control and end up side-ways.. but they do go. and as long as the driving conditions aren't crazy, they are more or less on time. also they have to drive with chains on the tyres when it's basically just ice and water (though being a totally new company from the flattest part of sweden with hired drives from everywhere aka. not local and new crazy routes, they often don't have time or the experience to but them on when they must...)
