I would suppose some of our Forumshire folk are having thoughtful discussions about SET matters, but divulging deep , private thoughts and learnéd ideas that would only bore the non-Purists. How lovely of them. How thoughtful. Mmm... that would be it.

Happy Hobbit day.

HOZZAH! Luv'ya, Bilbo and Frodo!

"Happy Birthday Bilbo
may your road wherever go on and on
and may your hair only partially fall out
and er, I'm not the best at writing songs"

"Happy Birthday Frodo
our brave brave ringbearer
once you travelled to Mordor,
overcoming terror after terror..."

Best I could come up with on the spot. Still, Happy Birthday!! Very Happy

"And I think Ally it is just as well you are not in charge of TH either as I supsect all we would get would be a film with all your favourite male actors in a hot tub!"

I thought you said that you liked Ian Mckellen's Gandalf? Cool

"No, it would be something far more exotic than that {{{Ally's become quite esoterical lately, don't you think - or poetical maybe - I mean, she's been a bit too hard to comprehend - in a good way - I think - typical artyfarty type, where was I -- oh yes -}}}; Ally would prefer sequins and Pan flutes and loads of cream included - absolutely no doubt about that... though I do hear Orlando Bloom is allergic to cream.... just heard... {{{}}}"

A hot tub in Hawaii? Orwell, you read my mind!!

"I would suppose some of our Forumshire folk are having thoughtful discussions about SET matters, but divulging deep , private thoughts and learnéd ideas that would only bore the non-Purists. How lovely of them. How thoughtful. Mmm... that would be it."

Do you think that they will make any of the sets in Squash courts? Personally I think that's the future of drinks and set production locations. But only if it's not raining you understand. Plus if you have any famous mountaineers visiting the set make sure that it's something interesting- i.e. Not in a wood.

I fear this may be to cool and hip a statement for my old buckie soaked brain to comprehend.

And you were getting all uptight about old Gayold, Petty.... Tush! You know, we KNEW all the time. Odo told me it was amazing in some ways that the McTyrants were still producing children. (Mind, he did put it down to bisexuality. I guess it must be true, Odo being such an Authority of McTyrant History - at least, he told me he was).

going back to those birthdays mentioned.... The Hobbit was published on September 21, 1938, and the Silmarillion on the 15th, don't remember the year

Well obviously you two have never watched LOTR: ROTK- EE, Apendix documentaries, because if you had, you would have realized that it was raining so they built a set for the last movie (even though they had barely started on FOTR) with the Frodo/Sam leaving scene, and then the sun came out so they left the set up in a squash court and then it didn't rain again for months- or something like that! And when they were out filming Edmund Hillary came out to visit them!! I thought it was rather obvious myself.

But yeah, September seems one important year for such like. Wink

Well Ally what can I say- you were quite right and allusions to squash courts are not in fact just the product of a youthful imagination! Who would have thought it? So apologies for accusing you of just been mad (although you are but in a nice way!). Now I wonder if all your other more esoteric posts are likewise full of hidden meanings? Suspect

Aren't we due some news soon? Or are the lazy swine still on a break? (Actors! Mad ) And talking about lazy Sir McKellan may well be a fine Gandalf, talented stage actor and otherwise busy fellow- but boy he is a terrible blogger. His last update on his official TH blog was 31 of May!

In fact if my memory serves me right they did Frodo's shoot, then finished sams shoot 18months later.
As Ally has already said, the sun came out so they decided to stick with the original plan.

Suspect anyone else notice it's getting increasinly less busy on this thread? I think it's time someone kindly knocks on Mr. PJ's warm cozy cottage he's wasting precious time in and tell him to HURRY THE HECK UP!

Btw -- is there a release date at ther moment? I kind of want to be put out of my misery. I feel PJ has had us standing on the gallows long enough, don't you think? But there doesn't even appear to be a rope in sight.

Part 1: 14 December 2012
Part 2: 13 December 2013

That's been the (admittedly tentative) release schedule since before they started filming, I think. Smile
