Both. Its harder for older females to jog round the block, we need regular tea and crumpet breaks.

Pursuing doesn't imply catching...
I can imagine PJ using this as a model for a dwarf at elven revels.
Edit: I tried to code it, but I don't think it's working. Here's the link:

Just spotted the 'oakenshield' in this pic http://bit.ly/KgDbDH I guess this is a flashback scene.
Think someone mentioned before about this scene being a flashback.

Re: News from the set [2]
They seem to have made it into a sort of oak gauntlet covering his left arm, judging from pic 1.

I'm not convinced it's either oaken or a shield. At a certain point they should just change his name.

Re: News from the set [2]
With the burning trees my first thought was that that scene might be from the "Fifteen Birds and Five Fir-Trees" sequence, though Thorin wouldn't necessarily be on the ground at that point. I should really watch the seventh production video already so I can follow what you guys are talking about.

Re: News from the set [2]
Thanks, Chris. I can't say I'm surprised that they're throwing in flashback scenes, although thinking on it, I don't think there were that many in LOTR. Aside from the prologue of FOTR, the only one that comes to mind is the prologue of ROTK showing the finding of the Ring. Hopefully Jackson will be able to handle them well without being obtrusive.
EDIT: Well, actually, there was the flashback of Gandalf's battle with the balrog and Faramir's double flashbacks of Boromir's departure from Osgiliath and seeing Boromir's body. I guess I didn't think of those since the events still took place in the timeframe of the story, unlike the finding of the Ring or the War of the Dwarves and Orcs.

Re: News from the set [2]
Photobucket have banned and removed Sean Beans Bum! Apparently it violates their terms of use-but hobbit lasses of the day it seems do not!
Heres the still of Thorin from the first pic in the set Chris linked too and a close up of the 'thing' on his arm.
Obviously hard to tell at this resolution, but my first thought when I saw it was it looked like plastic, like that horrible plastic fake wood look you get.

Petty they can ban that photo all they like, its imprinted onto my retina for all time.
I thought it was a flashback, it didnt look like the wargs scene to me, and that shield thing looks like a bit of tree strapped to his arm, its all knobbly.

Re: News from the set [2]
Actally I feel another fight over inequality breweing- but with photobucket! I have been using it for along time now to host stuff I post on here and the only stuff they have banned has been sean beans bum and Amaries birthday NotP which had a Hobbit Lad of the Day.
Just me or is there a whiff of double standards here given all the pics of Hobbit Lasses of the Day there have been?
Someone on the THMN (sorry cant remember who offhand) suggested it looked like a Hellboy prop- I wonder if this is a prop design left over from the Del Toro days at the helm?

Re: News from the set [2]
I mean what is offensive about a bottom? we all have them and they are nice to look at.
I would have thought the very first thing PJ did when he took over was to get a couple of bin bags and chuck all Del Toros stuff in it, including his office pot plant.

Re: News from the set
I wonder if these weirder visual elements like the bunnies, Thorin's shield, Bifur's axe are of Del Toro's design. I mean I thought Jackson had Alan Lee and John Howe doing the visuals. What happened? Is Jackson overriding them? Does he have to keep Del Toro's designs for legal reasons? I just don't get it.

Re: News from the set [2]
As far as I know Total Film is pretty reliable, and with the movie this far along I have more trust in these reports than the sorts of rumors we got a year or two ago. I wish I could say I was surprised, but it was clear they wanted Kili to have sex appeal since his design was first revealed, so in retrospect this was sort of inevitable.
At least it's not Bilbo having a romance (yet).

Re: News from the set [2]
This is horrible nononono!!!!
pursuing Tauriel and Thorin not thinking he's good enough, that's like Galadriel/Gimli and Aragorn all over again! NO!
Thorin wouldn't take on the mission of reclaiming the treasure from Smaug without a real plan if he didn't thing he was good enough! the only good thing I see here is "shady necromancer"

I'm beginning to suspect that PJ is using his movies to share his personal adolescent lusts and insecurities with all of us.

Even though it's PJ and the coven we're talking about, I think it will be more of a brief joke or some subtle nuance. Just a gut feeling.
