Re: News from the set [2]
Kili dies at the end -- maybe that won't seem so sad now.

I knew it! I called it! Oh yeah!
Why am I'm so sad now?

F***... imagine the scene in which the dying Kili lies in Tauriel's lap as she cries and despairs..

Oh dear. The potential here gets worse and worse.
Got to hope and pray this idea ends up on the cutting room floor.

Re: News from the set [2]
Kili dies at the end
Well...maybe. But there's nothing to keep PJ from changing that. (Remember Saruman).
And there are commercial possibilities to spinning off Kili/Taurel into their own franchise, independent of the Tolkien estate.

How do you find these 'easter eggs'?

Re: News from the set [2]
They're on the Extended Edition DVDs. If I recall correctly, you go to the scene selection menu and navigate to the last page on a given disc. (There are five "eggs" in total; FOTR disc 2 is just a preview of TTT and TTT disc 2 has nothing.) You then press the "down" button on your remote control again and a ring icon will appear on screen beneath the scene selections. Press that and you'll see the easter egg video.
Of course, they're all on YouTube as well. Language/content warnings for all of them.
Fellowship of the Ring:
The Two Towers:
The Return of the King (disc 1):
And the one I already posted was from ROTK disc 2.

Re: News from the set [2]
I remember being ever so disappointed on discovering that they weren't included on the British EE edition (especially considering how much I paid to buy the TRILOGY AGAIN )

you're right.. that isn't exactly funny.... especially when clearly PJ knows what's coming and like.. it's scripted. Sorry

It seemed the most preposterous thing I could think of- Mrs Figg
I learnt long ago Mrs Figg that to PJ there is no such thing as preposterous!
Norc Orwell- cant say as I see much humour in it myself. Must be a US thing.

Re: News from the set [2]
I see the humor and I can laugh at how bad it is, but I don't find it hysterical
Re: News from the set [2]
I remember watching it years ago and thinking it was hilarious, bit watching it again it does seem a little silly. PJ just doesn't seem involved with the banter you know, like there's something on his mind.
Also, the poster couple would be a cool addition IMO. As long as one of them DIES. Romance is hip.

Re: News from the set [2]
I suspect it's funnier to people who've had to deal with that particular type of pushy Hollywood American. It's a spot-on caricature of them. It wouldn't surprise me if they're lampooning specific people with this skit.
I know the Monty Python nudge-nudge-wink-wink character seemed more annoying than funny to me, until I met a few Brits out of that mold. Then suddenly it was hilarious!

Re: News from the set [2]
Connolly is ticking a few boxes at the moment. His new series to air on the Seven Network, Billy Connolly's Route 66, will continue his and Stephen Fry's dominance of the travelogue space. "At least we're not chefs! The bloody chefs are everywhere," Connolly says. "I hate them. Especially the shows with the kids. Get the kids outside on their bikes. And without helmets. They go out looking like they're ready for jousting they're so protected."
Connolly has been protected himself recently doing 2 1/2 hours of make-up to become one of the dwarves in Peter Jackson's coming The Hobbit adaptations.
"It's a rough and violent character," Connolly says. "He's a dwarf but he's a bad ass. He's a warrior."

Re: News from the set [2]
Playing Dain Ironfoot, who appears in the second part, allowed him to play the little guy for a change.
"But you don't feel like a little guy because you are doing big things like killing people and stuff.
"And you are wearing all that armour and make-up and everything.
"It was great fun. I arrive riding a wild pig."
...the hell?
Screw you, PJ. Or del Toro. Whoever came up with this nonsense.
Hmm, I wonder if there was any boar-riding in Scandinavian mythology.
Re: News from the set [2]
I gotta laugh at the piggy back ride Dain is going to have.
