but I suppose calling them sexist money grabbing fanboy numb-nuts doesnt help.
there are things you do that make you thoroughly lovable. Can't figure why they'd ban you. Must have flashbacks from being chased off the playground by feisty little girls when they were young or something.

I haven't posted there much but it seems like an utter joke of a forum. I still shudder when I think of those two reviews for DoS.

Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' [2] SPOILERS
yep its a joke alright. The mods there are very selective about free speech, its a small and insignificant thing having ones posts deleted, but its a slippery slope, its a denial of someones voice, albeit small scale. I have a hair trigger when it comes to people telling me what I can and cannot say, it makes me want to dig in and fight, stubborn I suppose. that site is swamped by marketing and advertising for plastic toys, maybe over in the other sections there is room for Tolkien debate and interesting open minded discussion, but the mods shut down anything remotely controversial, I despise those mods. what are they afraid of?

Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' [2] SPOILERS
It looks like they're looking for any remote excuse for banning people. They probably decided the comment about Bloom was an insult, as if anyone from the movies read that forum. For all I know, though, maybe they do

You guys really don't know how good you have it here.
And TORn's advertising is hardly obtrusive. For a site with as much traffic as they get (they're one of the top 50,000 most popular websites in the world) it's basically a necessity to pay for bandwidth.

I can only assume you weren't active during the heyday of banner ads (not to mention pop-ups), because TORn's ads are not even remotely close to being wall-to-wall.
(Yes, I understand that you were probably being deliberately hyperbolic. )

Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' [2] SPOILERS
At least they don't have video ads that play at full volume as the page loads. And then you search all over the page and you can't find the damn ad so you can turn the sound off.

Seriously. These are actually getting more common I think (not necessarily the full volume bit but obtrusive video ads on otherwise non-video pages in general).
Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' [2] SPOILERS
I think the opening in Bree is the only time we've ever seen a location subtitle in a PJ Middle-earth movie. I know we've talked about this before, but it comes across as extremely tacky, and I was thinking about how stupid it would be if there was a location subtitle when Gandalf goes to Minas Tirith in FOTR.

Re: In theatres: 'Desolation of Smaug' [2] SPOILERS
Not so much stupid as just clumsy storytelling, I think.
I could forgive it, but what's the fun in that?

That's great, bungo.
I think the subtitle might have been less glaring if it had been something they'd done all along, but I agree that location subtitles in general are kinda lazy.

I added a subtitle in my edit- but was no other way to convey it.

To be fair, there was one other way, but it does pose the danger of epilepsy.

I might have tried that if I could have added snow to PJ's Hobbiton shot!

I've always liked the image of the pages of a calendar being blown by the wind. Would take extra shooting though.
