Exactly.  Very Happy

Though I might have been saying something different if I lived in Tromsø I suppose.  Laughing

Yeah, i heard on the news Shocked why? Just why would u do that?!

I don't know, but we get storm tourists here on the beach whenever a big storm is forecast.  Shrugging I guess it's saner than chasing tornadoes.  affraid

Maybe Halfy has some insights into weather tourism?

(Of course I used to go out to the beach to run in the big storms. When the wind is out of the South (the same orientation as the beach) you can run almost 40 mph (65 km/hr) in a 70 knot wind, and when the BIG gusts come, it's the closest thing I've ever experienced to flying without equipment! cheers )

Love all the pictures people are posting of their homeland. Never had the chance to travel much, so it's great to see what other places look like. Cold is setting in now, it's about -14F (-25C) now. I live in the central part of the states in the far north. -30F (-34C) in the winter happens a few times each winter, but this front will have wind with it, which is unusual. Here's a pic I took a few days ago, reminds me of midgewater in the summer.Tales of Home [4] - Page 16 Swamp10

Great snow Hilbilly. Very Happy

I think you can see some of what we had here over on the last page. Not really comparable sadly.  Laughing

Edit: Hm, no. Maybe it's on the Fjordlandia thread.  Shrugging

I'm jealous of you Europeans (especially you northerners), seems you have a great mix of mountains, ocean/sea, freshwater and woods. Are the summers warm? Hillbilly's can't handle heat, at least this one. I'm also curious as to the types of agriculture you have, as the ocean and altitude greatly affect that.

I'm ashamed to admit Norc that I've never had skis on my feet, down hill or cross country. Cross country skiing is something that I've considered tho.

Thanks for the pics everyone, you all seem to live in extraordinary beautiful places.

You're right Norc, what am I waiting for? I have tomorrow off, so I'll make it a point to stop by the sporting goods store if they're open. Shouldn't be too many people out and about with the cold, and I have to go to town anyway.

Thanks for motivating me, I'll let you know how it goes.

A hot tip if you try downhill: all the ski areas wrap up the price of the first lesson in the cost of a lift ticket. So take the lesson, you'll be glad you did.

Cross country is a lot of work, but easier to access I guess. Don't try it in powdery snow.

cross country is super easy goddammit... downhill is worse though, but! i didn't take any lessons at all and after finding my way down the easy track i got right to the steep ones Very Happy ok, so if you're goin downhill, do slalom Nod easier Very Happy easier than twin-tip, snowboard and telemark. Remember to turn your upper body outwards, like in the oppoiste direction of your skiis when u turn Smile better balance. and try falling sideways and not on your arse. getting the skiis up your buttcrack and hitting your tailbone is.. literally, a pain in the arse.. Very Happy good look Smile tell us how it goes ^^

Well, I'm glad you guys liked the picture. Very Happy But I'm not sure I should take any plaudits as it's Norc part of the country really.

It's quite a spectacular place though. A quick look on Google maps shows you this:

Norc; Music video? Cool. Very Happy

I do get what you're saying about the summers. Still, I seem to remember quite a lot of weather reports over the last couple of summers going:

"Og mens regnet fortsetter her i Sør-Norge, har de en flott sommer i Nord-Norge hvor solen skinner." Laughing
