Re: Tales of Home [4]
Well, don't blow away Petty.
The only winter storm we have had this year was on Christmas eve.
We did get a tiny amount of snow yesterday however.

Service at that bus stop might have been delayed indefinitely, I guess.

So far so good, I havent heard of any serious injuries or fatalities around here so far anyway, plenty of structural damage as you can see. Was certainly a bit blowy!

That you're calling that "a bit blowy" that must say a lot for the weather around your parts. Or is that just Scotish stoicness?
Good to hear that no one got hurt.

Its just theres not a lot of difference between the wind blowing you about and buckie staggering you about. (and about the same amount of 'kilt incidents' )

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Yeah, I think Norc posted a picture of the "kilt incidents" happening involving a Polar Bear some time ago.
It would be scandalous stuff if it wasn't happening to everybody. (At the same time.) The kilt does tend to shield ones eyes from other people with kilts blowing around their heads, I guess.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Glad there's no injuries petty. Despite the damage, it still looks like a very beautiful place. Does anyone else live in a cold climate? Forecast here for the next three days is low temps of -32F (-35C), highs of -14F (-25C), and a real feel temp (what it feels like) the next two mornings of -52 (-46C). This is colder than our average temps this time of year.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Nothing really cold here. Our weather is a lot closer to Petty's, though we've been spared any big blows this winter (so far...) Our temp seems to have been stuck between 32F and 45F (0-6C) for several weeks. Nothing to complain of really, but I'm starting to dream of going walkabout...maybe someplace warm this time!

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Storms see to have been limited to the Atlantic coasts here this time. There seem to have been some incredibly stupid people going out to have a look at the waves, even taking their kids with them. God damn morons!!
Re: Tales of Home [4]
Yeah the world sadly never seems short of idiots-
'Police have urged the public not to put their lives at risk after a man was spotted swimming down a river during a spell of severe flooding.
He was seen in the River Nith, between Dumfries and Kingholm Quay, while it was in full spate at about 14:15.'- BBC Sotland

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Wow, that's cold Hillbilly.
It can get rather cold here as well, but seldom to that degree.
Here's a picture of a Scotish summer to carry you through the storm Petty.
Still some clouds I see.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Never mind the clouds, what you cant tell from that picture is that a good way to find out what it feels like to have your balls retreat to behind your eyes is to try steeping into the water- tricksy stuff Scottish water- it can look invitingly warm, but dont be fooled!

A bit like this one in Northern Norway - looks nice, but the water is freezing cold

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Well, if it's warm enough I normally don't mind the temperature too much. But that is another problem I guess.
Those areas of Fjordlandia does look stunning in that weather though.
I did have a window looking out over it for 6 months, but I never went bathing in Trondheimsfjorden. I don't know if you would recomend it Ringo?
Probably not at this time of year.

I usually go abroad for a swim, so I can't say much about it, I'm afraid

Re: Tales of Home [4]
Ah, I see.
I don't go swiming much in the sea but my parents have a cabin by a fresh water lake, and when the water gets to about 16-20 degrees and the sun is baking it's glorious for a swim in summer.
That doesn't happen before the last week of June at earliest though.

Re: Tales of Home [4]
There are a few small ponds and lakes about that are nice for a swim, and I used to do it quite often before. Perhaps I'd go for swims more often if it didn't rain all summer in this part of Norway Oslo is nice, though, lots of nice weather

Oslo can be quite nice in the summer, this is a bit further south though.
Let's say between Buskerud/Vestfold and Aust Agder.
