Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Well I am going to put up the offical voting list tomorrow for the Forum Awards.
Eldo was supposed to be doing the CC categories for tomorrow, but he seems to be shirking! (Probably gone and got himself one of those real life things I keep hearing about or some other equally suspicious young person behaviour )
So voting on that might be later.
For all those new to the Awards voting its very simple.
I will put up a list of the categories and nominees in each.
Along with a list of just each category. Copy that paste it into notepad or a prog of your choice and put beneath each one your chosen person.
When you have selected someone for each category copy that and paste into a pm to me.
When the 7 day voting period is over I will count all the votes and the winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.

If that's short for 'Shire King' then he has the right not to be doing something.

I don't understand all your words. Notepad? Prog[ram?] of my choice? I'll be sending my votes by raven thank you, and if they never arrive don't be surprised.
For me a 'program' is a show on the Television. Or something. My notepad has paper in it, and can hardly be seen from Scotland, even on a clear day. Put me down for choice 'b' in all categories. That seems the right thing to do in this case.

Oh yes, almost forgot: just make sure choice 'b' is always someone [you think] I would vote for. That will save wear and tear on my ravens.

Oh wait. I didn't read all of it. LOL.
I thought there was some special way for you to read it in a 'program'... ahem, but we get to pm it to you.
Never mind. I must be close to a behorsing today. Or drunk. Sorry.

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Working on a draft of the CC Awards, but the problem is that while it has grown considerably over the past year, the section that has grown the most is the Unfinished Tales. Due to length I've split that section from last year in two based on how recently they were updated.
Also, last year I proposed having more specific awards like Best Plot, Characterization, or Setting, but I didn't get the sense that people were very interested in that. We can try to do that this year if people want though.

I'm not making two dozen links, sorry. You can find any one of those by using the forum search tool or a Google site search.
Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Thanks for putting the time in Eldo, its appreciated.
"best plot twist perhaps "- Norc
To specific I think- I mean who is going to go through every story looking for all the plot twists to nominate- it would take forever.
Nor do I think there is much point in Best Drama or Best Comedy as most stories would fit into the comedy category.
So I'm happy with how you've laid it out Eldo. But of course tweaks and further helpful suggestions from everyone else are welcome.

Percy and the Sword in the Stone, I had forgotten about that. I enjoyed writing that.
I think I enjoyed writing that most after Haddon Hall with Turembar.

I'm supposed to be on a leave of absence from the forum, remember?
And I don't follow the music threads closely enough so someone else will have to gather those nominees.

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Nice work on the links, Norc. :)The categories are mostly copied from last year so for discussion of them you'll have to peruse the 2012 awards discussion thread.
Yep, I've been using the TNM abbreviation for Needlehole.
They're serials, so by their nature it is all of the stories as a collective whole (or at least, all those written in 2013) that are included in this category
I already excluded several stories that were abandoned very early on, several poetry threads, and the "Council of Odo" type threads to try to keep the list shorter than it could have been. :PI agree it's a bit much, but we've had some really lengthy lists of nominees in certain categories in previous years and it's worked out (more or less).
No idea. The category last year was titled simply "Best graphic/illustration". I tried to include everyone I could think of who posted images a bunch, but it could be subdivided into drawings, GIFs, memes, videos, etc. I don't think there would be enough nominees in each category if we did that, though.

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Illustrations is lumped into the images/videos category. I just edited something about that into my previous post.
Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
i still think that the wholesome tales are a waaaaaaay too big a series to just slump there.. and they're not a series in the same way that needlehole is.. i dunno, anyone els have any thoughts on this?
yeah, the problem for me isn't that there are many, it's just that there are few people voting.. which well... it'll be like one vote for each, and that ain't fair.. it'll be like the pirate-king election in POTC.

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
I don't think its been a rule before, but should we say no voting for yourself this year?

As a general rule I don't vote for myself in the Awards and I would expect several others don't either. Plus the number of people who post regularly in the Creative Corner is only a fraction of the active members we have in general.
I could see maybe limiting it to a maximum of two or three stories per author in each category though, just so the list isn't quite as dominated by Petty, Orwell, and Figgs. Maybe ask the authors to pick their favorite stories that they want nominated?
NB Love the POTC reference.
