Re: Holidays and absences [2]
I'm leaving for camping with my dad and co this (Friday) afternoon. I should be back sometime Sunday night since I have work on Monday. Dunno if we'll be remote enough to lose mobile Internet but I don't expect to be posting. Work has been insane this past week (busiest outside the holidays but without the benefit of seasonal help) so I'm hoping to recharge.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Enjoy your break Eldo, hope you feel better for it, kick back & relax safe journey

coldes june in 33 years so far. 2,6 C below average, which make the average temperature this month (so far) to be 6.5 C.
the coldest day was june 4. at 2.1 C. it was the warmest yesterday at 16 C. and it has basically been raining. we saw the sun yesterday. i went for a jog.
follow this link and at the bottom of the article is a video of tourists having a snowball fight. (video is from June 16th).

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
i was just now complaining to my dad because i was cold and he asked if i had longs on (woollen tights/undergarments) and i was like no it's summer... and he like "you know summer is a temperature, not a date?" which i guess is true.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
I was going to go swimming last weekend, but didn't get around to it. Maybe that was just as well.

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Thanks guys.
There is a lake and also a waterfall where we're camping so I plan to take advantage of those for some splashing around.

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
I love going swimming in summer, but I like the water to get to around 15-16 degrees first. Last year I went swimming at easter, that was.. a bit too early.

Well, at least you can go skiing.

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
I came back a few hours earlier than I had planned because a tropical storm came through last night and ruined my sleep, so I didn't feel up to driving back late. It was a pretty nice trip though; yesterday was sunny for most of the day and the lake water was the perfect temperature. Got in a bunch of HP reading too, but that's a topic for another thread.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Sounds swell. We've had a really cold spring so the water will probably be freezing well into the summer here, but I have to get around to at least trying it soon.

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Well I'm in Minnesota now everyone. The weather is cooler than I expected, but very pleasant with some heavy showers when I flew in yesterday. It seemed like everything had cloud cover from the Rockies east.
I'm working on some willow furniture with my dad, and not really doing anything vacation-y yet, although I think we'll go kayaking or canoeing on the river by the end of the week.
Anyway, I've managed to get to a computer, but I won't be on too much through next Wednesday (unless I have a lot more time on my hands than I anticipate).
Talk to you all again soon!

Enjoy your vacation, Forest! From what bungo says it sounds like it's pretty hot up there too but I hope you find ways to stay cool.

Actually yesterday was beautiful! Definitely cooled off after that huge storm system moved through.

Glad to hear that. It's been a bit cooler here lately too; especially on Monday it was beauteous.

61F (16C) here and drizzling rain. More like Smaug's day-old poo pile, but considering the alternative I'm not complaining.

that day-old poo pile is sounding lovely and fresh I could just squidge my hot frazzled tootsies in some cooling dragon doo doo.

I wish we could trade with you Mrs Figg, in small quantities of course. Dragon sized portions from either end of the beast are a bit much for us mere mortals

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
We're getting some lovely rain here now. I really wish I could bring it back with me to California when I leave on Wednesday.
Out there it's like Smaug's breath: hot and dry, but with occasional rolls of fog when it comes in contact with the ocean.
