Holidays and absences [3]
If Dave doesnt put at least one bemused veg, one almost feels cheated doesnt one ?
I do believe it has now become a Forumshire standard to which no one has emulated or come close too

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
I'm leaving for weekend camping sometime on Friday, and should be back Sunday afternoon. I won't be Internetting during that period, although I haven't been online much on the weekends lately anyway.
Re: Holidays and absences [3]

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
Sorry Petty. Thanks all!
We're going camping in a state park about an hour away from here, so nothing too wild. State parks, at least in Maryland and Delaware, have a pretty standardized system for camping with loops of sites, bathhouses, gravel drives and stuff like that. Almost the whole family goes, and for the fall trip usually some distant cousins we don't see much too. A decade ago it used to be just my dad, brother, and myself who went camping and we'd cook everything over the fire, but as we've added more people we've also added stuff like gas stoves. We usually go about three times a year. The fall trip has for several years been to this park at the north end of the Chesapeake Bay. It's quite pretty, there's decent fishing (though that's not really my thing), and you can make a short hike to this neat lighthouse that has a great view over the Bay.

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
We'll have five people in our tent since it's a big one (can fit up to eight officially). Then two tents in the adjacent site for another five or six people. Not sure about the distant cousins.
Re: Holidays and absences [3]
They'll roost in the trees in little hunter's bivouacs. Then you can recreate scenes from The Hobbit.

Wait? What? Five people to a tent? Is this a wizard camping trip or something?

Re: Holidays and absences [3]
Its an American camping trip- they probably have a huge flat screen tv a gigantic generator and a full kitchen worth of appliances and they will light the fire with 'gas' and a flame thrower. Bloody Americanhobbits!!! (Except Dave who has done it properly in real countries )
