I'm glad you were able to see and respond to the trailer before you left, Forest! It's always fun to get your thoughts on the latest developments.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Looks like I arrived too late, but in case you see this anyway, Forest - have a nice trip
In other news, I'm back from the West Coast of the grand home country of so many Forumshirelings (none mentioned, none forgotten, as the saying goes). I'll keep it short for now and say that we had a blast, and that pictures are coming up when I've gone through them and found some decent ones

HI RINGOOOOO!!!! WELCOME BACK! I LEFT YOUR MESSAGE IN THE TALES OF HOME THREAD, BUT IT'S BURRIED AT LEAST FIVE PAGES BACK
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Glad you made it home Ringo! I was worried how Fjordlanders would fare in the Southwest in the summer, with droughts and fires and all. How much of the country did you end up seeing?

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Thanks for passing on my message, Norc And you don't have to worry, halfwise, we had a lot of good food as well We spent the first week driving around, and it was mostly then that we stopped at places like Taco Bell for food. All we have in Norway is Burger King and McDonald's, so we had to try all the places we've only seen on TV We stopped at a lot of other great places as well, though, there were lots of great cafes and restaurants inbetween our different destinations.
David - we only had the car for one week, so we got to see some, but not nearly enough! We stopped at a lot of places as well, which left less time for driving. We spent almost three days in Yosemite National Park, then we went to Lake Tahoe and spent a day there. After that we drove to Reno (so we got a glimpse of Nevada as well) and stayed one night at a casino hotell, which was pretty fun for us Fjordians who are used to such things being illegal. Then we headed west towards Clearlake, spent our last night of the first week there and the morning after we continued to San Francisco along the Highway 1. Most of the last week was spent in San Francisco and the areas around it. Pics to follow later

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
That sounds like a good road trip! ( And in my humble opinion the Taco Bell bean burrito is nearly the perfect food for road warriors )
Yep. In Nevada it's hard to find things that ARE illegal!

Glad to have you back, Ringo! I've visited the Reno area numerous times to visit friends of the family who live out there. The casinos are definitely something else, although those have started to crop up on the East Coast outside of Indian reservations over the past few years. Nowhere near the density of Reno casinos, though. Tahoe is absolutely gorgeous, too, one of my favorite outdoor places that I've visited. I've never been to Yosemite, unfortunately.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
Oh, I wasn't knocking Taco Bell - I agree it's the best road food you can count on (My cravings for chalupas and taco supremes verge on the uncontrollable at times), but once you enter a place like San Fran the road food protocols should cease and desist.

Re: Holidays and absences [2]
I'm pretty sure I had In-N-Out the first time I saw one out west, but unfortunately I don't have any clear memories of it (assuming I did actually go). I was only 10 or 11 on that trip, though.
Re: Holidays and absences [2]
As I mentioned in another thread, I'll be leaving for Otakon shortly. I'll be back sometime on Sunday afternoon, but I'm leaving for the beach on August 13th and will be gone for about a week after that.

Please tell me you are putting Amarie in charge meantime!

Have a good time Eldo.
And welcome back ringdrotten!
(I won't be back to my computer to update it for a couple weeks, but I've been waiting for you so we can finish off Round 10 of Liberals vs. Purists: it promises to be quite messy).

Oh yes please do!
I am planning a war against some random neighboring forum. It would unite the forum again after this last internal battle; it would show that women are fab leaders and capable of making tough decisions and follow through for the best of the Forum they rule, and it would and show that women can start wars. And everybody is happy!
