I've never found your compliments cheap, Odo. I think you are the most genuine person I have ever met. Haven't you told people that consistently? They don't listen, do they! I though take a lot of notice of your masculine responsible advice. You are like a God to me in some ways. I have the same feelings for you "psychologically" as I have for Orwell "physically." On the surface, I realize the last comment makes no nonsense, but I'm sure a "discerning" person would know exactly what I mean. A bit like Quantum Physics in a way... Very Happy

I think Chris means the tours of the Hobbiton set/location in NZ. It's the same location used in LOTR and (to be) used in The Hobbit. If the tours have been cancelled for the time being, it's probably because they're filming at that location. Very Happy

Also, happy birthday Ally! cheers It's not quite your birthday in my time zone but it is in most of the world, so I think I can wish you well now. Laughing Enjoy your 18-ness!

Not this old thing again, I remember it last year! Brilliant photoshop though, but I bet Ian was pretty annoyed, kinda undermined the serious issue ofhomophobia that he was trying to make by supporting stonewall.

UGH, why am I remembering stuff like this... Mad Still, I found the funny side of it! Great shirt.

In Stephen Fry's new show, Planet Word, all about language he was talking about story last nigth and quite rightly included Tolkien in his greatest users of language. I'm not sure if the BBC flew Fry all the way to the Bag End set to interview PJ or if he was already cast and just took advatage of being there, but either way he interviewed PJ. Very briefly sadly but did bring up Tolkiens use of language to which PJ said, and almost with a straight face too, "We tried to get as much of Tolkiens own language into our films," but he did at least have the decency to look guilty as he said it.

I'm reading a Fry book at the moment (when my eyes aren't falling out of my head because of the nightshift!). It's called "The
Ode Less Travelled." It's about poetry, in many of it's forms and rythymns, and how to DO it. Pleasant reading, indeed! cheers

No, I think he is having his elevenses. Or second second breakfast.
The one thing I admire about Peter Jackson, honestly, is his ability to sort of soothe or at least temporarily sedate those he has to answer to financially , the box office appeal and the hopefully trillions to be made, and those of us who have to admit the special effects and scenery and acting is quite superlative. We can complain till the proverbial cows come home, and I do my best there, but in the end at least the professors body of work, comes alive off the page so to speak and we can at the very least enter into Middle earth for a while. And also it gives those out there with unused millions some ideas of how they would do things differently in the future when some of them wish to step up to the plate and try their magic on making the lord of the rings, because i think someone , perhaps a died in the woool purist just might try it.

It's plain enough what you are getting at Leelee. Petty the crabbit hobbit started this complaining so Petty should make the films and end it, or himself. When aught I to start?

Where ought you to start dear Petty, well having quite a lot of bake sales for one thing. But honestly I would love to see someone like you or perhaps another two or three who know the book inside out, have done their homework on the professor himself and his way of doing things, his convictions and then armed to the teeth with even the tiniest detail that would make a big difference, just go for it. I promise I at least and I am sure everyone here would continue the bake sales and garage sales and contributions as we could to keep things going. Say the word captain and I shall whip out my fruit peeler and head for the apple, flour , butter and raw sugar aisles. Nod

I didn't actually realize that was supposed to be Frodo in those pictures at first. Laughing From behind that wig makes him look like a lady Hobbit.

Anyway, other than that, it's pretty cool to see photos from the set and read a report like that. It's nice to get confirmation of my theory about Frodo's scenes being set in the 'present' of LOTR. I still think it would have made more sense to have Frodo from the end of RotK, but ever since they announced that Ian Holm was back as Old Bilbo I thought it was pretty clear those scenes would be during or around the beginning of FotR. If only PJ didn't think it important to include such scenes and tie the films closer to LOTR in the first place... Rolling Eyes

The guy who wrote that report is a regular contributor to Ain't It Cool News, which is a very old (in Internet terms) geek entertainment website. Their writers often have close relationships with filmmakers and entertainers, including people involved with LOTR.

I think you're fine, Petty, considering that he said:

If I see a bunch of sites take these images without credit and a linkback future pictures will have bigger watermarks. So, don’t be a dick. I notice you already put a link in the first post and I'm sure everyone can remember do that in subsequent posts that use his pictures. Smile
