F**kily duckily ! your edits are getting pulled faster than a bell ringers rope !! Glad I got to see it !

- The amont you pulled was quite a surprise yet, it flowed so well ! I was logging as I went along all the scenes I remember from PJs film against what youve left in, It still shows how PJ could have,should have,stuck to minimalisation & still be able to convey the story ! Gone,gone,gone, Leggy is gone! No fooking skate board, I could hug you just for that! 16 scenes that I know of gone ? No Haldir, boxes for Gimli, the list goes on ! I liked the periodic insertion of the Ents, it just was a far better edit in my opinion !

From the first time I saw TT, Haldir and his army reminded me of the Judean People's Front Crack Suicide Squad. I hope the elven warriors in Battle of 5 Armies are a little more useful in combat.

Sorry- he doesnt belong there, it doesnt need him, its silly and doesnt make any sense- where do all the elves go afterwards? How come boys can survive and not a single elf does when Leggy is like superman? How did they get there?They would have had to leave to get therein time before anyone had decided to have a fight there, how did they even know where to go?- did they follow the sound of sword fighting?
No, oddly enough Tolkien knew exactly what he was doing by not having an army of elves turn up as an excuse for an over-sentimental death scene which only exists because the battle is now the climax of a film and someone has to die in slow motion.
Well I dont need the artificial props as my edit the battle is the middle of a film, not the end of one.
Im sure there are even more reasons why not Figgs- but those will do for now.

Seriously, though, they'd have had to get past Saruman's army to get to Helm's Deep as well, right?
Also, it's interesting that Galadriel appeals to Elrond to send help. Firstly, I don't think Elrond outranks Lady G (she's his mother-in-law). Second, wasn't it her own elves that went to fight at HD? Haldir was, anyway.

I got the impression they were Lothlorien elves, sent by Galadriel.
Presumably she magically transported them there in PJ's version- thus solving all the problems of distance, travel time, getting past Sarumans army ect and they were all instantly transported away at the end which is why not a single elf is seen afterwards except Leggy the implausible.

Haldir is established as a Lorien elf in FOTR, and the Elves in TTT wear costumes designed for the Galadhrim ... except that the Galadhrim weren't supposed to field heavy infantry. I suspect the whole "Lord Elrond sends greetings" is a relic of the version of the film where Elrond and Arwen went to Lorien to meet with Galadriel before Arwen traveled to Helm's Deep with the Elves and fought there. (This was replaced in the finished film with Galadriel and Elrond's telepathic conversation and Arwen was edited out of the few background shots where she remained.)
