Is it slowing everything else down?

No, the upload speed is so limited by microsoft that I can stream HD video at the same time and browse no problem.

I wish you could put a chunk on that dailymotion thing so I can watch a bit of it.   

AAARgh!! I keep forgetting my download manager screws up the skydrive uploading!!!!! So it fucked up at 100%      

So i I will need to restart gain- it will be tomorrow morning for any europe types before its up- and everyone else will have to work out their own times because I am too bloody cross!   



Mrs Figg just for you I am going to upload my cut of the Bilbo/Smaug conversation to dailymotion- but I doubt it will last long so be ready at some point in the next 2 hours.

I haven't seen the movie, but it doesn't seem as if much was taken out. Of course, given how this scene was rewritten, I'm surprised there is any way to cut it to make it even remotely resemble the book.

Its not what they took out was the problem really, its what they added. Theres about what fifteen minutes or more cut from that section above. All of it atrocious.

And I should reiterate I haven't done anything but the crudest work on the sound between cuts (fades only)- to do that right I need to go into a sound editing program and do it there and then bring it back together in the main editor- and as I will have to do it all again soon when I get a proper HD version to work off I just couldn't be arsed with the extra work right now as Ive got a lot of stuff on the go at the moment.

I would think there would be strange jumps in background scenery as Bilbo tends to say a line then hightail after the arkenstone a bit before getting to his next line. But I guess one pile of gold ain't much different from any other.

Did you watch it Halfy? I dont think its too bad regards background stuff, theres a couple of bits (and the lack of sound editing highlight cuts more than it will in the finished version), but given the material I had to edit I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm not in a location right now with fast enough internet to download a video. and I'd have to know how to find it on daily motion.

ok I watched it, it didnt have any sound, but it looked pretty good. You cut all the irritating rubbish and if it had had sound I bet it would have been a much much better version. I hadnt actually seen the last part of the film, but this is about as good as its posible with the material. I noticed you kept the Eye of Sauron flash, I would cut that out immediately. Any LOTR copy cat stuff is just annoying.

fake edit I had turned my sound off,   I will watch it again with it turned ON.

I couldnt take the eye flash out- its the only explanation for why Bilbo takes the Ring off mid conversation. I would dearly love to take the whole Smaug referring to it as 'Precious' out.

I am going to try to create the ring effect as a filter I can apply it to the HD edit when the time comes, so I can take that eye bit and the line out and Bilbo can keep the Ring on for the convo.

If you take the Sauron eye flash out, though, it makes Bilbo taking the ring off seem even more daft.

Yes, thats why I want to make a Ring filter that matches what PJ uses, that way I can cut that bit out where he takes the Ring off, apply the Ring effect to the remaining necessary Bilbo shots for the duration of the convo and not have him take it off till he runs out the hall at the end of the conversation, right before Smaug flies off.

Thats the big plan anyway.

ok I saw it again with sound    if it had been me I would have cut the first bit with him putting on the Ring, and Smaug mentioning precious, I would just keep the second time he puts on the Ring. I dont like Smaug saying precious or the Eye flash. Also its missing the reason Smaug is angry, and flies off, theres no reason for him to be angry with Bilbo by himself. You may have to include the Dwarves doing something to anger him, but I dont know what as I havent seen all the last bit of the Dwarve Golden statue stuff, is there anything Worth saving? not because I want it but to give a motive.
