Indeed it does - we're not much against nature, if she decides to go against us

Yup - a warm bed without the mosquitoes

Re: Tales of Home [2]
Fantastic pics and fantastic taleRingdrotten.
And I completely agree about mountains and their moods, and that Tolkien got it spot on- and Pj obviously fumbled the whole ball by making it Saruman.
"carachdras was called the cruel long before the name of Sauron had ever been heard" -or words to that effect.
Frankly thats what you get for trying to go to a troll mountain- and Id expect more knowledge from a Fjordian soldier, surely you must have realised when your compass went haywire you were very near a troll with large iron deposits in its body? Lucky escape if you ask me.

Yeah, defi a charadras parallell here and yes, campfire is the best preferably in a sleeping bag with that warm glow in your face making u feel sleepy. And the smell of the ground, the wet moss, bark.. The fire .. The silence..
Yes petty, definitely in troll-land. See the scattered boulders. Troll- war.

All I can say is, it's not the first time a soldier, whatever his nationality, has been fooled by his pride and let common sense be common sense I was more worried about the danger of avalanche, to be honest, but the snow was not deep and the temperature had been stable for a long period. The risk will have increased already, though, with all the rain that came pouring down today.

Re: Tales of Home [2]
Avalanges!?!? Now? Really.. Whenever i come actoss snow like that in summer it is always rotten because of sun and stuff, but frozen underneath, that can ofcourse lead to avalanges, but the layer isn't that thick. When i do come across them i ski down on the with my boots, it's great fun and u get a hell of a speed
Re: Tales of Home [2]
Ah well very dangerous avalanches Ringdrotten- got to watch for the signs for sure, especially in places where the avalanche might also contain trolls!

Re: Tales of Home [2]
In terrain like that they can still happen, however rarely it happens. Riding them on skis sounds a little too hardcore for a simple trondheimer like me, however
Glad you guys liked the pictures and the story that went with them, by the way I've got more pictures, but somehow they didn't seemed to fit. Maybe I'll find another thread for them.

Re: Tales of Home [2]
those are fantastic photos everyone. I love Norc's forest glades and Ringos troll mountain.
although I am not a camping person, it does look very healthy stuff, as long as the mountain doesnt decide to Throw a Wobbler. (get angry)

No, not on skis. Just on my shoes. It's so rotten it works the same way, u sink through a little, but since it's a slope u slide. U got some control because there is some breaking, but u get good speed

Watch out Ringdrotten! Norc's clearly been pining for a real, strong Fjordian man after being stuck with, well, us for so long and now she's coming after you.
{{{ }}}
Great pics, though!
Re: Tales of Home [2]
Kilimanjaro tried to do that to us.
The weather all the way up to summit camp was really good. Summit night the wind really picked up and the temperatures dropped considerably. Anyone without the right gear pretty much ended up with -15 wind cutting through their clothes.
My gloves are sit somewhere up there!!
Our guide who was on about her 15th ascent said it was the worst weather she had experienced up there.

Looks a bit pricier than the Duck n Muck and I bet they dont do hotpots or square sausage.
And not sure about that car- its very large- do you have to pay for all of it, even the bits you dont use?
Anyway Lance will be doing the transport--so some sort of capri Id imagine.
lovely pics however.
