Re: Tales of Home [2]
i took these photos around midnight (around one o'clock) two days ago. it was just coincident that i though "damn it, i am getting my mom's camera and taking some photos" i had to turn the exposure time way down to get the red tones on the sky right, so it's not actually that dark, the sun is lurking just behind the "hill" behind me. If i had been on the other side of the island i'de have the sun around the height where the moon is
Re: Tales of Home [2]
I like that, Norc !

Beautiful pictures, Norc. I don't know how much of it is down to changing the exposure, but it looks very peaceful.

Chickens- in the back garden!
Everytime I go out to feed them or help colllect eggs and see the hens I just think how plump they are getting and how good theyd be in the pot. Is that bad?
Charlie the Cockrel
Hehas the most amazing colours in his feathers but he wouldnt stay still to be photographed- these were the best of a bad bunch-
The neighbours puppy, desperately hoping for permission to chase the chickens!
And to round the day off there was a lovely sky-

Re: Tales of Home [2]
You dont make friends with chickens!
I mean if you think about it we steal their eggs, we fatten them up, and we eat them
With chips.
Hardly a basis for friendship is it?
And they shouldnt be so tasty if they dont want eaten.

Re: Tales of Home [2]
Well today is the day I lose a landmark- that huge chimney that crops up in the background in so many of my pictures- well today is the day it goes.
'Demolition experts are set to bring down Scotland's tallest free-standing structure.
Explosives will be used to topple the 236m (778ft) tall chimney at the former Inverkip Power Station near Greenock in Inverclyde.
The chimney contains more than 1.4 million bricks and 20,000 tonnes of concrete.
The operation will take place at 22:00 on Sunday.
The chimney will be toppled by two controlled explosions taking place in quick succession.
Before the blasts, a police helicopter will use thermal imaging equipment to ensure that no one is in the vicinity.'
Although 10pm seems an odd time to do it- it will be pretty damn loud Id imagine given its right on the water with a hillside behind it to bounce the sound off.

Re: Tales of Home [2]
Well headed out with a mate along the road to a grassy hill to join about 50 or 60 so people already gathered there to see the Chimney go down- this is the best so far I could find on Youtube taken from the Dunoon side, but this is from down the shore front, we were further back and up a hill.
It doesnt do justice to the sound either.
The entire Chimney was down and gone before the boom hit, with the hill behind and water in front, it was roughly about the same volume as the thunder storm the other day when it was over the same location.

Re: Tales of Home [2]
It always sucks when such things are destroyed or taken down. The explosion was pretty awesome, though

Re: Tales of Home [2]
Yeah sad to see it go, but glad I was there to, if you see what I mean.
This is a vid from before it went down from BBC Scotland- with the view from the top.

it's much brighter in reality, but the sky colours are the same. and yeah, it was peacful if was so nice today, traveling home from oslo at like ten in the evening and then seeing it get brighter and brighter and landing in this reddish light at midnight good to be back home .
Re: Tales of Home [2]
i dunno. but i saw one who did. his face was all white so the skin, which was red/pink because the fur was white, shone through. so yes. maybe he was one of them there
Re: Tales of Home [2]
Your dog reminds me of a drunk being held back from a fight- he's trying to give the impression 'if I wasnt on this lead Id go for them', whilst really thinking, 'I hope to god she doesnt let me off this lead and expect me to go for those huge buggers!"
