Tennant gave some great performances- I listed some of my favourite episdes- but he gave some really poor by te numbers ones too in some really poor stories.

I see so much of previous Doctors combined in a new way in Smith performance and nuances that I am frankly in awe when I watch him. The way he can shift tone from jokey to serious in a heartbeat and take you with him is fantastic.
A great example of that is in the xmas special the Widow and the wardrobe thingy- when he is joking about with the kids over giving them hammocks and then the whole tone switches when he talks to the mother about telling her children their father is dead. That was a stunning bit of acting in my book.
Likewise sitting my Amelias bedside- where you get a real sense of age and tiredness from the Doctor- or in a Good Man Goes to War when he realises they want a Time-Lord as a weapon becuase they have seen him- all just subtle, beautfully played moments.

This one is spoilery for end of series 5

One of the things I think Moffat has brough to the show is memorable secondary characters.
The classic era had them- characters like the Brigadier.

Moffats first was of course Captain Jack Harkness-

For series 5 and 6 we have River Song- who makes about the same amount of appearences in a series as Jack averged during series 1 and 2

Then we have Dorium Maldovar

And Madame Vastra and her, companion, Jenny

And Strax

And on my memorable mentions list are characters he created that only made one appearence-

Doctor Constantine

Sally Sparrow

Madame De Pompadour

The Dream Lord

Kazran

And of course there are the new memorable monsters- the Clockwork Robots, the Angels, the Flesh, Vasta Nerada, and of course the Silence to name a few.
I think even the most harsh Moffat critic would have to concede he has added a lot of good stuff to the Who universe and expanded it.

I think Smith is a really mediocre actor. Not convincing at all. I never am convinced for one minute he is the Doctor. I find his performances sometimes shallow and forced lots of fake jollyness. The only episode I like him in is the Christmas one.

you see Norc you can use the word flammable in this context.' Mrs Figg made a flammable comment about Smiths acting skills', and Petty being not chuffed replied thus starting a flame war' Nod

Very true I am not chuffed. Mad
Actually I am more amazed someone could view his performance that way Shocked - but I have long since given up any hope of convincing you otherwise Mrs Figg- I reckon folks can watch the episodes or view the above clips and make their own minds up on this one. For me his performnace speaks for itself.
He is the only NUWho Doctor who immediately was the Doctor for me in the way the early classic era ones were.

Any fears for Who should be helped by something my friend said to me earlier. Hs two youngest, the girl 7, the boy 9 were playing when the trailer for the new Doctor Who came on- she squealed the place down and shouted on her brother. They rewound it and watched over and over and ran about mad then spent the next two hours playing with their Doctor Who toys and making up adventures- thats whats Who is really for and I for one am delighted it still provokes that reaction and sparks imagination and creativity. Nice one Moff.

Post by Pettytyrant101 Mon Mar 25, 2013 11:04 am

Well I have been kind of waiting on this sort of bad headline for Who since the Saville thing broke-

Dr Who bosses preyed on young fans says ‘victim’- the Sun

You will note however they put victim in quotes. The reason for this is that there was no forced sexual contact just a bit of overkeenness it seems and the victim was 17- technically underage by the law of the day when homosexual consent was 21 and over.

"Former TV editor Richard Marson says sexual harassment was rife in the world of the sci-fi series and that he was once propositioned by its gay 1980s producer
Marson makes his shocking accusations in a book about Dr Who’s then-producer, titled JN-T: The Life and Scandalous Times of John Nathan-Turner.

He says Nathan-Turner propositioned him when he was a teenager working on Dr Who Magazine in the 1980s.

He writes: “After the first time I was invited to see a recording of the show, he got a bit frisky, shall we say.
I was a bit taken aback. I was only 17 and he said to me, ‘You’re so f****** provincial’.”
Nathan-Turner was in charge when Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy played the Doctor. There is NO suggestion any of those actors were involved with abuse claims.-The Sun

Depite the Suns attempts to make more of this than it is, its harldy in the league of Savilles consistent across decades abuse of children- nevertheless not welcome news in the 50th Anniversary year.

But one has to ask what the hell has been goin on at the BBC over the years as we now find out another pedophile ring was apaprently operating out of the set of Eastenders.

Yup apparently so- duing the 80's and 90's.

'CURRENT EastEnders stars were said to be “in shock” last night over claims adult paedophiles working on the soap preyed on young fans.
We revealed yesterday that cops are investigating a group of “mature adults” suspected of assaulting youngsters visiting the EastEnders set in Elstree, Herts, in the 1980s and 90s.
Senior production staff and cast of the time are NOT suspected of being involved. The joint Scotland Yard and Herts Police operation has been assigned “top grading” by intelligence gatherers.
A source told The Sun: “This has knocked everyone for six. People are in shock. Hardened stars have seen it all, but this is something else.”
The inquiry has allegedly uncovered a worker who is believed to have been dealing drugs on set. The EastEnders investigation is unrelated to any other ongoing cases involving soap stars.'- The Sun

This sort of thing is really, really F****in nnoying!!! BBC you are a buch of complete wankers!!!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

What has got my crabbit up- this has-

'A special three minute minisode has been made available online as part of the Series Seven Part Two listings via Amazon and iTunes-
Demon's Run: Two Days Later
In the aftermath of the battle of Demons Run, a battle-scarred Strax lies dying on the floor - or has he just fainted...
Featuring Dan Starkey as Strax, Neve McIntosh as Vastra, and Catrin Stewart as Jenny.

The video is currently free, but only available to watch in North America.'

What? Only available in North America- thats bloody ridiculous.
Who pays for Who?- the British bloody tax payer does through the licence fee and how are we, the paying British public, to see this mini-epsode?- thats right you have to pay yet again and buy the dvd's whilst johnny foreigner, who hasnt contributed a penny to Who's production gets it first and for nothing.
Way to insult the fans who kept their show alive when they abandoned it.

FUCK YOU BBC! (and not in a gentle fun way either!) Mad Evil or Very Mad Extremely Crabbit

Fraid not Mrs Figg- the blame for this one lies at the feet of the commercial wing of the BBC- BBC Worldwide.
Not the first time either- the prequal to A Town Called Mercy was made available in North America and nowhere else too.

With companions leaving and a new one arriving I thought I'd pick some clips showing the ending of previous companions.

1st Doctor

His granddaughter Susan leaves.

His first human companions Barbara and Ian leave.

2nd Doctor
Victoria Leaves (and breaks Jamie's heart Sad This is one of the sadly lost epiosdes with only stills and adio surviing, still moving though)

Jamie and Zoe leave. (Shades of this in Donna's exit)

3rd Doctor

Jo Grant

4th Doctor

Sarah Jane Smith

Leela and K-9

Romana II and K-9 Mark II

5th Doctor

Adric

Nyssa

Teagan

Turlough

6th Doctor

Peri

7th Doctor

Melanie

Ace (this is the final scene of the classic era- we dont actally know within the tv show what happened to Ace)

10th Doctor

Rose (ignoring her later appearence)

River

Donna

Martha

11th Doctor

Brigadier

Amy and Rory (annoyingly its to new for the BBC to leave the final scene up on youtube- plenty vids with the scene in them, but none of just the scene on its own)

Not a complete list by any means- some companions exits are aong the lost episodes and some I just couldnt find anywhere on youtube.
