Damn, Matt's good! I think I actually gasped.
Also, this is just the thing that makes the old!Pond thing and byebye-Pond things so annoying. Can't cross your own timeline, except when you can, blabla. It's like MacGyver throwing his hands in the air saying "Gosh darn it, I can't think of single thing to do!"
You tell them Amanda!
And just because it made me laugh.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
Eldo I dont think Moffats is all that enamoured with the whole film idea- I dont think he sees the point and I am not sure the current series which he claims as a 'blockbuster' every week is not his real reply to the notion. Who doesnt need cinema.
"Damn, Matt's good! I think I actually gasped."- Amarie
The great thing about Matts performance is the more classic Who you watch the better and better he seems.
"his is just the thing that makes the old!Pond thing and byebye-Pond things so annoying. Can't cross your own timeline, except when you can, blabla."
Ive said it before and will say it again- Doctor Who is a childrens fairstory, it is not a sci-fi. If you want conssitent of that sort watch proper Star Trek and ead a starship technical manual.
Fathers Day- Rose cant touch her infant self or end of universe- has happened before in Who many times, happens again after that episode.
The rule in Who is if there is a valid explanation withn the episode its ok- in Fathers Day the universe is being temporarily cleansed and its fragile so any paradox is potentailly catastrophic. In Angels the paraodxes already built up have made it dangerous enough and the final one means the whole time stream for the Doctor/Amy Rory is too polluted for the TARDIS to go anywhere near them. EVen if they get on a train and go o Bston or fly to Paris.
The final clincher is the Doctor reads Amy's afterword, in which it is clear they did not meet again. The rule that if you read the future of your own timeline, estab;ihed at the start f the episode, applies too therefore.
By Who's normal story rules its all explained as much as ever.

First you say it isn't suppose to make sense, then spend an paragraph quoting your own Who Tech Manual saying that it does make sense.
(And Who does have a lot of lovely technobabble, don't know if there's an equivalent Whoish name for it? I may have forgotten... )
It is the fairystory magical fix it that's lacking. That's why it doesn't sit right with me. But there's a new girl in town, maybe she and I will get along better than me and Amy.
DANG! That reminds me! Wasn't there going to be a star trek/dr Who crossover comi... uh... graphic novel?!

Re: Doctor Who [4]
No, no- what I mean is you cant extrapolate episode to episode- you cant cross time streams- but sometimes you can- if the story demands it- so long as there is some reason for it given within that individual story thats the rule, generally.
And yes there is ST Who crossover- Assimilation- Ive read about half of it- the art work is, variable, if Im beng generous. What Ive read of he story is ok so far- unsuprisingly its a cyberman/borg crossover plot.

Re: Doctor Who [4]
Yeah I saw that on the Suns webpage- but then this will be at last count, the third tme the Sun have made this claim about Matt and he is still there.
What Matt officially has said is he has done this series, is about to start filming the 50th anniversary episode and is signed on to do the xmas episode. He said he takes it ayear at a time and he would decide on 2014 when it was here.
Same sort of thing he said last year in fact when the Sun said he was leaving at the last xmas special!
I will await an official announcement myself. The Suns' 'insider' never seems to realy know anything (or more likely is actually in the pay of Moffat to generate free publicity!)

Re: Doctor Who [4]
they aren't plugged in in the movie, they probably play, but the sound is almost always (especially with those fancy movies) put on afterwards.

what if clara is the new doctor?- Norc
I think I said before that if they were to do a femal Doctro next then getting eveyone to like her first without knowing she is going to be would be a clever way to do it.
But if she is she should have regenerated when she fell.

I'm sure that 'fizzle-pop' I feel every time one of they casts a coy, knowing glance directly into the camera is my sense of inner outrage. Nothing else could possibly produce such an overtly physiological reaction...

Re: Doctor Who [4]
Sorry Norc! I was still abit drunk when I got up!
And Tennant was a brilliant Doctor when he got the chance- and when he was directed within an inch of his life he became a parody of his own performaces- just a series of exclamations noises and face pulling without refernce to the character.
Yes Matt is very animated too but he makes it part of the personality of the Docotor (like the 2nd and 4th Doctors in fact) with Tennant it always felt like an artificial add on to me, not comng from the actor himself. Tyring to make him more like one of the eccentric Dctor sthan he actually was (for me his best Who is the non eccentric Tennant stuff- Family of Blood, Midnight, Waters of Mars ect)
I was very glad to see Tennant go in the end and that is a crying shame for him as he is in some of my all time favourite Who episodes.
I was more annoyed what they had reduced his performance to by the end.
Which is the reason on my own person list of Doctors, Tennant comes in at 4th, maybe even 5th.
