does anyone know which is the next Donna episode after Runaway Bride? I want to start with her episodes and then go back to Marthas episodes. I really like Martha as an assistant, I think she is underrated because Rose and Donna and the others have big personalities (apart from Amy who doesnt have one ), she is subtler and sadder in a way because its unrequited love she feels for the Doctor.

Eldo I am glad you loved Blink, Sally/Carey is one of my favourite assistants, if that is what she is technically speaking.

I found Martha, well just dull really- she had a Rose tacked on family which we had seen before and she loved the Doctor (yawn). I tended to think she had less personality and intrest about her than you think Amy does Mrs Figg. Horses for courses I suppose.

However one of my favourite two parters- Family of Blood is in her run and she is fine in it (altough its Tennant and Jessica Stevenson make that one work).

Martha didnt just stand around pouting and waiting to be rescued, she DID things, she wasnt just the stereotypical fiesty redhead (yawn). Amy is just a female stereotype, she is a damsel in distress, a uterus, a romantic object in a love triangle. So she is just as involved with the Doctor in a romantic way as Martha. Martha and Rose saved the world through personal danger, they risked their lives, all Amy did was have to think about the Doctor on her wedding day, its passive not courageous. She doesnt do anything that is not stereotypically girlie which is very unthreatening and incredibly boring. Rose and Donna were feisty because they cut through BS, Amy is just a male fantasy, unthreatening and just there to have a kid.
this has nothing to do with the actress as a person, its the writers who have done this to her, although I do find her rather wooden.

A thorny subject in Who that Mrs Figg- assisstant would do in this case I think- companion tends to be reserved only for those who have travelled in the TARDIS (So Canton from Imp Ast would count as a Companion but Sally not).

She didnt travel in time Eldo- she stayed where she was- the Tardis left on automatic recall.
