Search couldn't find it, so I went into the temp files (had to go into Tools and figure out how to unhide the Temp directory first ) but the unzipped file didn't seem to exist and the original downloaded files claimed to be corrupted and unopenable.

I think I'm going to have to try a new download again in a couple days. If I get it opened in VLC again is there a way to save it into a working folder directly from VLC, or do I have to go rooting around manually in Temp again?

Mrs Figg- you cant unzip a single file- it needs all four, it wont work with just one.

I recomend winrar- as that's the program I use to compress them with in the first place-

Shiggy- book 4 is ready to upload- just need to sort my internet connection out. Hopefully start uploading soon- but takes about 5 days uploading every day to get a full HD film up.

another Questione, is it possible to take a video directly from Youtube and stick it in your windows movie maker without any fiddling around with weird extra bits and bobs that I have never heard of and cant work?

That's what I'd hoped to do, but for some reason the computer didn't give me the option of selecting a target folder this time. Something else went wrong too, because it wanted to send an error message when i shut it down. It's been being weird lately.

In theory my local geek is building me a new Windows 8 box out of new and used parts, but I haven't heard from him for a while. That's what viewing the LotR edit is waiting on as well. I think my current computer is jealous, but it's not helping its case any by throwing temper tantrums.

So having downloaded the film, spent days reediting it, converted it, compressed it and spend tedious days uploading it for you, you also want me to now get a dvd, burn it for you and send you it?

Cant you just go the library or something and download it?
You could always do what David did and send me a memory stick and I can put it on that.

First can you rip videos from youtube?

If not you will need a program to let you do that- if you use mozilla firefox as your browser it has an add on 'download helper' you can get for free from their addons page, that will let you rip from youtube.

Most stuff on youtube is in the flv file format- I don't use windows movie-thingy myself so I have no idea if it can read flv files or not.
If it can then its just a matter of putting it into the editor and editing it.

If it doesn't recognise flv's you will need an flv to avi converter.

So I am afraid how simple or complex it is depends on a number of factors.


David- jealous computers suck! Get onto your mate and see how your new one is coming along- trade him some suspicious vegetables or something if need be.

Dont you have a memory stick or something to put it on?- youd only need about a gig space.

You can pick up a 8 gig mem stick for less than a fiver on amazon.

I guess not all of us are as quick to catch onto techno-whizzbangees generally, and this downloady-thingizing business like I am.

Well, I watched your version of The Hobbit Petty, & I did like it ! I actually forgot the stuff PJ included, which goes to show PJs stuff couldnt have made a memerable impact on me as I thought it might.

Yeah same link as for TH different folder- there should be a folder called book1 and a folder for books 2 and 3 there as well.

u basically editing out all the purist (aka really bad) out of film ?

I try to make them follow the book narrative as much as possible whilst still leaving a film you can watch and makes sense and flows.

In the case of TH no Azog, Radagast, only a glimpse of the WC so you know its happening, and quite a lot of other alterations.

To anyone... its really worth a view! Pettys cut version.
