Petty's Purist LotR Edits [2]

I dont see how it would be possible- the surrounds are entirely different- it would go from a shot of Bilbo trying to leave to them all lying in a cage with no explanation.

what if you cut the cage completely, and had them surrounded so you didnt see exactly where they were?

I really disliked that part of the movie as well, but when I saw Petty's edit taking the fall completely out, it seemed to not make it much better, only a bit less of it.

As I told Petty after watching his first edit, even knowing what was supposed to happen I lost track of Bilbo. A person who had never read the book or seen the movie would have no clue why the characters are sleeping in a quiet cave and suddenly are in the middle of a crazy videogame nightmare.

Unless there's more footage for Petty to work with in the EE cut, I don't know how he's ever going to make that transition smooth enough to be easily watchable.

Just conveting TH for upload for- very happy with this cut, but has been infurating for lots of technical reasons that took some extra help from a knowledgable friend to solve (Nagual in fact)- the end resut, which solved the tech problems however was a file just over 10gig in size- a bit large for a non blue ray film thats only 1 hour 34 minutes long!
So I am squeezing it down as much as I can- I really would prefer people to see this version than one currently avalable.

Updates to follow! (Well in about 45 mins when the conversion process is complete and I can see what size of a file I have)

Just checked back the footage and there is an inexplicable 4 or 5 frames of Gollum righti nthe middle of the stone giants sequence!

Having to see whats caused the glitch and rerender. So thats about another 2 hours, plus another to convert it.

I hate rerendering. the trowel always gives me blisters.

Im starting to think it would have been easier with a trowel!

I finally got a version my editor recognised without faffing- solving the sound issue- looked fine in the editor- spent two days editing it only then to find out it looked awful and weird and in lines when rendered (interleaving problem) lots of trials followed of different formats and compressors and downloading plugins and other infurating malarky, and I finally get a set up that produces a decent end result and it glitches and shoves a bit of one scene in the middle of another for some completely random reason- no, scratch that, in fact it wasnt random, it was the universe letting me know how much it hates me!!

And people wonder why I'm crabbit!

Render finished! Just the conversion and uploading to go, and its only 3am, only 3 hours behind schedule.

But dont worry Ringdrotten I am determined to get this uploaded for your weekend trip home.

I converted the rendered file and ...NO SOUND!!!!!

But then way my luck with this edit has been it'll probably just melt my pc or something.

ps the conversion played merry hell with the aspect ratio- best to set it to 16:10

I might later just upload the big 2 gig version, better pic and no ratio problems but for now this conversion of it is not bad quality wise and its my best cut yet I'd say.

put film in edtor-edit film- output film- convert film- upload film

But every single stage in that has had added clamity, disaster and a universal sized application of sods law.

have they put gremlins in to stop people editing it? the folk from the Academy.
