thats very strange I cant find the vid any more. it must have been deleted. its just disappeared. but it showed more of the scouring of the shire, like in Galadriels mirror but in more detail. i will keep looking for it.

I would guess one of two things regard the Scouring footage- they only shot those bits and not any of the actual dialogue stuff or Saruman there, as I am sure we would have heard of this by now. Or it was all shot for the mirror of Galadriel stuff delibretly and thats all it was.

If it was how they were going to do the Scouring Id have some serious problems with it- the Shire is way to screwed, and as PJ's Sam doesnt have Galadriels gift not much chance of restoring it by films end.
Sam in rags in chains, head bowed and whiped is not in the book and would it be very odd to present Sam that way after all he had been through in Mordor- in Scouring he, Merry and Pippin are proactive and take matters into their own hands.
Amd those look like orcs not dsplaced men from the south.

yes I think its stuff for the Mirror of Galadriel. But its good to see they filmed a lot more detail than previously thought. Maybe more deleted footage will gradually filter out.

I think calling that footage Scouring is misleading- its more a representation of what the Shire would become if Sauron got the Ring- its only confused with Scouring because that scene in the Mirror replaces Sam seeing events of Scouring.
(and by leaving that out I lost some favourite Sam lines : "I must go home. They've dug up Bagshot Row, and theres the poor old Gaffer going down the hill with all his bits of things on a barrow. I must go home!")

Just finished two days of reediting TH.
Inspired by getting a different version that my editor recognised so solves the sound synch problem.

Anyway Ive made some changes, some based on feedback. (Still only Kafria and Orwell watched it?)

The moth motif bugs me, wondered if you'd thought of cutting it - Kafria

It is now cut Kafria and better for it.

The Stone Giants are cool as you have them, but then it has Thorin and Comany ducking into the cave. If somehow we could keep a little of the drama- Orwell

This section has been entirely recut, in now includes more spectacle and a little peril but no over the top silliness you can be sure- the finding the cave is less abrupt now too.

Other significant changes-

Recut the 'In a hole in the ground' section so it flows better and the sound is better.

Recut the troll scene to make it flow better plus some minor changes.

Cut together a travelling montage for between Troll cave and Rivendell entrance.

Added the WC!!! Really, well sort of. Gandalf goes to it but when Elrond says "It not me you have to answer too" it reveals Saruman not Galadriel and there the scene ends and explains why Gandalf does not leave with the dwarves but is to meet them in the cave.
My reasoning is in the book the Necromancer is mentioned, and secondly I think I will need some reference to it to make it fit with what I have to work with in the next film, so its sort of preemptive.

Recut the trees scenes- should appear they are all in the same tree from the start now and tried to reduce any 'stiltedness' in it. It seems to flow better now.

Hopefully it will be converted and ready for upload by tomorrow.

I'll be heading home tomorrow (was originally planning to do so last week, but got sick ). I'll download it and watch it sometime during the weekend

Hey Petty now I have (finally) submitted my application and dont have to worry about sploding computers , I will try to download it tonite, looking forward to it.

btw is there anychance you could cut it so that the dwarves dont fall down the crack in the floor of the cave, and do a 'comedy' pratfall into the cage, but that they suddenly find themselves surrounded by sneaking orcses? to my mind this is (shock horror) 'more like the book' and looks better, but it may be tricky to do, but I would much much prefer it without the floor crack thingie, I dont know what you guys think?

If you can hold out Mrs Figg you might want to wait until I have the current version uploaded as it is a significant improvement in my view.

The crack n the floor is still there in my cut but not the stupid fairground ride that follows- the floor opens they land in basket, thats it.

oh ok, but is it possible to not have them fall anywhere?, just have them wake up and be surrounded by orcses?. I think it would be more in keeping. I hate all that falling into the cage stuff. i dislike most of Goblin Town but I know its impossible to get rid of all of it.
