Petty's Purist LotR Edits [2]

I started out being partially fond of the movie. Most of the Bag End scenes were really really good (with a couple of sad and unnecessary aberrations), but the more time that goes by, the more this movie hurts. Tolkien's jokes and japes were sooo filmworthy! Why why why why why why why.....

No- I cant even get short clips from it to stay up on sites like dailymotion or youtube, let alone the whole thing.

I watched your glorious edit tonight, but only up until the "Arwen/Frodo/ river scene,just before they get to Rivendell. And I loved it ! Im so glad you left out the poo joke, when Merry & co fall down the bank after veggie scrumping ! I liked the male narration at the begining better ! & I loved the subs, (thankyou oh thankyou!) when Arwen speaks to Aragorn about taking Frodo to her father. I much more enjoyed the lay out,with the snippets inserted in just the right places, (story of Gollum, Isildur, Sauron etc !!) Bloody loved it !! Well done. I still havnt upgraded my graphics card, just got onboard crap at mo,so watching it was a bit erksome, but well worth it, The quality was good, the music matched well, all in all I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching the rest asap !

Azriel I am glad you are enjoying the edit.
There are more replaced subtitles elsewhere to come in the Rivendell and Lothlorien bit that hopely set the Arwen/Aragorn stroy a bit more towards the stroy Tolkien gave them.
It just seemed obvious to me for that Arwen scene that it was a chance to explain why the river rises, seeing as PJ left Gandalfs explanation to Frdoo when Frodo awakens out.

The Ring Verse narration at the start is Sir Michael Horden (voice of Paddington Bear!) as Gandalf taken from the BBC radio production of LotR's.

Are you using vlc player to wach it in?- if not that might help improve playback.

I look forward to seeing what can be done with this film - it sounds like you have been working hard Petty.

I really liked the film in general, so don't wish to let my experience be ruined by a minority of hollywood inventions. Those small pieces of cliche make the film difficult to recommend in its current state. It is not surprising that those parts which stand out most as being unnatural were recently contrived. I also remember it being far too condensed with all of that infantile warg tracking going on, taking the emphasis off what was a good story (film) in its own right.

Considering they are not putting as much effort into honestly portraying the Hobbit as they did the LoTR, the extended edition release should include a function to edit our own version of the film. How easy would it be to just make scenes optional - they probably already have alternate cuts. Do they really stand by their decision to not only warp the plot, but to insert such an amount of orcish monologue that we cannot help but perceive it as being thoroughly distorted?

It they cannot manage to sort out the problem by the time they release the extended edition, I see the future of this film bound to purist edits. All the best Petty with your edit - this is exactly the kind of independent determination upon which rests the fate of the portrayal.

Hiya Petty, Im watching thru VLC, its just I need a better processor/graphics card, (so ive been told ?) But, I can cope ! Il continue watching when time allows me, Ive enjoyed all that Ive seen so far ! And, unlike PJs attempt, I look forward to the rest !

Hi Petty, Ive every intention of watching the rest ! wild Orcses couldnt stop me, Ive had a few PC probs recently but all is sorted out now, Ive transfered old stuff from tired & knackered PC onto another more youthful PC, so Il be up & running !

Ok trying a test - mainly so Eldo has run out of excuses  - I am putting the purist edits up om dailymotion- or trying to and seeing what happens.

First part goes from beginning (obviously!) to end of Bree to fit in with the 1 hour upload restriction.

I doubt it will last long so do try to catch it folks when it appears.
