You can come to my next Internet Party, Mrs Figg. I'm thinking of adding a new vase.

Don't try and sound so reasonable with me, Petty McCracken!
I downloaded The Hobbit btw.... Do you thnk I'm some kind of internet incometent? Me?
Alright, how do I put winrar files in a Folder? And if I can't use DIVX, what can I use? (LotR worked fine - remember that, you turd --- which I mean as a compliment... )
Hey I thought I quoted your post, Petty - but I've erased most of yours! And me who is usually computer savvy and oh so careful!
I moved this here because I think I might have fucked up.. ever so slightly, Petty...

ok saw your other post Orwell- but your still not, well, making much sense.
You download the three files from TH folder to your pc.
Then right click on the first of them and select 'extract here'.
That will give you a single video file which you then watch in vlc player.

Re: Petty's Purist LotR Edits [2]
Well I have watched it.
It feels like a completely different film. Main things I noticed.
Getting straight on with the story meant I picked up for more of what was going on at the party as it wasn't overloaded by previous info dumps.
I liked the dwarves better, I could see them, not all the other rubbish so I had the time and brain space to start to identify them.
You get the feeling they are genuinely on a journey. Once the other bits are added it is going to feel like Bilbos big adventure, something that had got lost.
Bilbos 'you don't have somewhere you belong, thats why I came back' reduced me to tears and wasn't spoiled by fighting goblins or smultzy Thorin hugs.
In terms of the jumpy cuts, I have to say with what you had they is very little of that and it is to be hoped one or two bits may be solved if we get EE footage.
Just one idea re the edit, the moth motif bugs me, wondered if you'd thought of cutting it at the fir trees then the eagles would appear out of nowhere as they do in the book. With the night into day footage there is it is possible to believe the dwarves went to the eerie and stayed the night, but it was a cut in the movie.
On the sound issue, I found it was fine, colour seemed a little washed out, but used vlc filters to fix that. Occasionally it is out of sync as you said, but it happened twice only that I noticed and only for very short spells. I did get a green pixelated flash with a squeak half a dozen times...but it is what it is.
Thanks for sharing the fruits of your hard work again. This gives me high hopes of a final cut that should be really good in a couple of years time.
All that is left is to say I am in awe yet again of how you manage to do this.

Re: Petty's Purist LotR Edits [2]
Thanks Kafria.
The green squeak thing I have no idea, an effect I think of the amount of times it had to be converted one to the other. It happened in different places everytime I tried to ouput it.
I did consider losing the moth actually, I could easly jump straight to Gandalf lighting the pine cone and skip it- its only there because I left the moth in the Orthanc secne in LotR's (eventually) but I think you are right here and its probably not at all necessary.
Orwell- vlc player is what I strongly recommend you use to watch the films in.
You can download it from here

Yes, it makes sense in some ways, but the number of nods and echos to LOTR in the theatrical release began to irritate me, which is why the moth stood out then.
I would recommend vlc too, only downloaded it for the first of the edits, but its become my player of choice.
Sorry Orwell, wasn't trying to rub it in.
Hope you feel better now.

Odd. The first three things onth elist when you right click should be.. extract files,
extract here, extract to the hobbit
Do you have none of those?
If not try extract to specified folder and extract them to the same foler you have the downloaded bits in.

Actually, I tend to agree.
I did a spot check btw (without volume) and liked what I saw. The Stone Giants are much better now for a start! Very effective.
