Re: Holidays and absences
Welcome back, Norc! I'm glad to hear that your adventures in southern...er Norway went well. It's good to have you back, though.
Re: Holidays and absences
^^ good to be back. traveled totally alone on airplanes for the first time.. had to change airplane and everything. i'll write more in the blog, but well.. neither the airport here or in oslo is big and i know where everything is, but karma is a real bitch or whatever, and i actually had to seach for the gates.. here and on the way back from oslo. ridiculous.
Re: Holidays and absences
What was your karmic payback in retaliation for?
Speaking of travel woes, my second plane back from Florida was delayed for more than three hours (during a layover in Atlanta) so I had nothing to do but sit around listening to the blaringly loud CNN broadcast on every TV talking about the royal baby who had just made his first public appearance. I tried listening to music instead but my puny iPod headphones weren't enough to keep out the TV noise. I had to wonder if it was deliberate since Atlanta is the home of CNN.

that's the thing about karma. it was probably in an earlier life.

Re: Holidays and absences
Is that an actual McDonald's? Because if you can really walk through the columns and big doors and order a Big Mac that'd be awesome.
Re: Holidays and absences
the macdonalds on the rue de rivoli is probably my favourite

Re: Holidays and absences
I'm not McDonald's biggest fan, but I love it when they do these things!
I'm sure you can. I don't know if they're still doing it, but 10 or 20 years ago McD's would do almost ANYTHING to get locations within downtowns and historic districts where they were often banned by zoning. If money wouldn't accomplish the job, they'd offer to restore and preserve historic buildings that nobody else could afford to, in return for a zoning variance. Pretty cool really! One of my favorites was a little old bookshop in Stockholm, with no sign on the street except a small golden arches hanging over the door. Inside, there were bookshelves full of books that you were welcome to read as you read as you ate your BigMac and slurped your Coke.

Re: Holidays and absences
So I just got back from Otakon a couple days ago but I'll be heading out again for the last hurrah of the summer tomorrow. My dad's organized a trip to our favorite camping spot which happens to be in a state park right on the ocean and is a short bike ride from the Ocean. Although I'm pretty sure we're moving to a hotel halfway through to appease those members of the family who don't like camping. I probably won't have my computer, at least not for most of the trip, but I should be back sometime around August 20. After that all my summer travels will be over and things should settle down for me.

Re: Holidays and absences
I dont know- you folks never staying in one place for any length of time.
But if you must go leaving the place with gay abandon for days at a time you better at least have a good time and tales to tell on your return.
And you never know there might even be a newspaper waiting for you on your arrival back, well, its got to turn up at some point...

Re: Holidays and absences
Thanks guys! And I'll look forward to that paper, Petty.
To be honest I actually wish I had more down time after Otakon and before the beach, but my dad already rescheduled the trip so it wouldn't conflict with Otakon so that Luke and I could go and I can't really ask him to push it back any further since we're nearing the end of summer. I do love this park and this beach though, so I'm really glad to be going back since it's been a few years.

hi norclet
We're leaving in a couple hours so I might not have Internet for the better part of the week, but I'll try to have some interesting stories by the end of the trip.
