Doesn't the term 'soft biscuit' refer to a scone type item in parts of Scotland?

I'll bet "soft biscuit" comes from an area with a seaport or fishing community.  I've always known the old meaning of "biscuit" to be what's sometimes called "ship's biscuit" for clarity. "Hard tack" is another name and it's hard as oak .

You guys & your tummy's. Next will be the old debate on whether a Jaffa Cake is a cake....or not ? I call Maryland cookies just that Mary....land. My son eats them by the sack load, he is the cookie monster, has been since he was 4 or 5yrs old. I have noticed Cookies are becoming more of a feature in places like "Subway" & other fast food eateries. But fir me If you can dunk it IL eat it As for Soft Biscuits, isn't that when they've gone a tad manky ? left in the tin too long ?

It's not like the Dutch themselves use cookie (koekje) to refer to cakes either. Dutch immigrants were the ones who introduced the term (and its meaning) to America.

I have been feeling hungry for chocolate chip cookies since starting to talk about them here. Though I could also go for the actual Maryland speciality of Berger cookies.

mm, Berger cookies. The trick is in the quality of the wonderfully thick chocolate - it's halfway between a chocolate bar and a brownie.

they are on amazon, at least in the USA. Not cheap, though.

Autumn has kicked in quickly this year I think. Trees are losing their leaves rapidly & there's that certain whiff in the air

Find yourself a free image editing app. If a mac I'd suggest imagetricks, don't know if it has a version for windows.

Thanks Halfy yeah your right, Ive had long enough to look for one, just been a bit lazy there

I'm not the one who's having the problem flipping pictures. I have Gimp, but prodding Az to download Gimp to flip pictures is like buying a forklift to flip pancakes.

{{{Well yes, but there is lot of fun to be had with GIMP- and many of its settings- turning your photo into an 'oil' or adding some other filter effect is very simple to use. In short Azriel might find, once she has it, that she wants to try making more than pancakes!}}}}

Much easier with a simpler app. Just looking at the control panel in Gimp for the first time can taste like defeat.

cant say I recommend GIMP, I didn't like it one bit. I use Photobucket Editing tool for simple flipping, cropping and colour/contrast stuff. it does the job.

Thank you Figgles I used to like Photobucket until it got all money grabby. I like this time of the year, I like watching the changes in Nature

{{ If you are used to using any sort of art program Azriel GIMP should not present many problems. And GIMP will do everything photoshop does only completely free. Plus to flip pictures doesn't require any skill- soon as you open it in GIMP it will ask if you want it rotated the right way up then you just save it- its that simple}}}

Righty, Ive found & downloaded Gimp Will play around with it later on IL have a snoop on Photobucket also, I'm wondering if I can retrieve some pics from that ? Ive a feeling they wont let you ?

I can't test since I don't have PC, but photoscape is free, and is supposed to be easy to work with.
