if it is alcohol related, that's the sign og a good party. if it is food related, it is the sign of abad restuarant..
Re: Tales of Home [8]
{{Why doesn't your birthday come up at the bottom of the page Halfy? How are we supposed to organise anything if we don't know its coming? Bloody New York hobbits! Oh, and um, Happy Birthday too! May your search for buckie one day leave you comatose in a gutter }}}

Re: Tales of Home [8]
I don't put up my birthdate for the same reasons Figgy doesn't. Too old to be exciting, too young for each year to be an accomplishment.
Payment was alcohol related. This was the second drink I had. It's got apricot saki, orange blossom, etc etc. The 3rd, 4th and 5th drinks were at the next two places and might have tasted okay if I hadn't done the cocktail bar first; but after that place, drinks from anywhere else tasted like swill.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
I've been reading a book about the recent cocktail revival, something which started in the late 90's mainly in London, New York, San Francisco and Sydney. There's a few places here I'd like to hit myself which you will want to look into: Pegu Club (the classics), Angel's Share (the progenitor of the place I was at), and Please Don't Tell, a speakeasy that you enter through a phonebooth in the back of a hot dog place. You pick up the phone and dial a number that's not listed on the website but is floating around on Yelp. It may need reservations (that number IS listed).
Anyone here has got a flophouse on my sofabed, but if you find your, uh...cock, no doubt you'll make your own arrangements.

Hows your Twin ? Does he feel a bit "over cast" as well ? Did his birthday go well also ?

Didn't talk to him. Males tend not to hobnob by phone. If he's still alive I'll hear about it presently.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
just wanted you guys to know Leopold died this morning. He reached ten years! He was healthy and happy like he always was right up until the end. Last night he suddenly had troubled breathing and mom and dad took him to the vet. seems he had leakage/cancer in his lungs. Not too sure myself, but there was nothing to be done, he couldn't/didn't want to lay down, so he was pretty bad. I haven't seen him since january and i was to go home for easter, but yeah.. life happens. my sister is visiting though, so that's nice.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
Oh God I am so sorry !!! I admire how you take life on the chin. I'm upset, we got to know him & as I'm a silly animal loving softy, I fell in love with him & now I feel sad. Dear sweet Leopold.

Leopold was such a fixture, even here in the ether, scattered across the globe. I'm so sorry, and miss him. Good to know he was happy up to the end.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
thank you guys <3 it's really sad. he's been a real big part of our lives, ten years is a long time! As my dad wrote, footprints from his last walk yesterday are still visible in the snow. I am so glad he didn't suffer, even though it really hurts to lose him. he's family.
Re: Tales of Home [8]
{{{ Very sad to hear of Leopolds passing Norc, he always felt like a part of the Forumshire family.
But a good life, well lived in the company of those who loved him and left this world in peace and with that love- if only we could all have so good a life and ending. Mourn him yes Norc, but celebrate a life well lived too, one leaving you countless joyous memories.
Here's to you Leopold old boy- }}}

Re: Tales of Home [8]
So sorry for you guys, Leopold always seemed like a very cool dog and it was great to see stories and pictures about him! I'm sure it's rough not being able to be there yourself but I'm glad that he was surrounded by people he knew and that he didn't suffer.

I think that must be especially beautiful in the morning when the mists are moving over the waters.

Re: Tales of Home [8]
thank you, Julia i think i am ok, but then again i haven't been home yet. it will be strange to not be greeted by my hairy little boy at the airport, and feeling the empty house. I mean.. he was part of half my life, it feels so unreal that he's gone.. i am sad, but it also is a good feeling because i know he didn't suffer. Obviously he must've had some cancer tumors prior to this, but nothing we noticed expcept that he was a little thinner and slept more, but old dogs do that anway. He used to be around 40-42 kg, and last time we weighed him (two-three weeks ago) he was 36. so not a lot. he was the same playful, childish dog right up until the end. my sister went on long walks with him and just a week ago he learned a new trick. he was himself until the end and in no way in pain. I'll see if my sister wants to post some videos on youtube. she has lots! but he was the same playful floof. and i know in my heart it was the right decision to let him go when his lungs stopped working. it all happened fast, he didn't want to lay down because he had trouble breating. but he walked to the vet and even smelled around and was present. If we had operated it would only have delayed it slightly and he would have been in pain. i rather he not. and now i can remember him as the healthy, loving, heart of gold, silly dog <3
