{{{Skin of the teeth win for Remain in Newcastle in first result- should have been a strong remain in that area. Not a good sign despite the win}}}

Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
They said something like 75% turnout in Scotland I think. That's good, obviously, but less than the Indy ref. In light of the Newcastle result I imagine the Remain side are worried that people may have taken the result for granted given how narrow things are.
Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
Sunderland at +22% for Leave in light of its relatively central place on the "slide rule". Damn.
Leave could actually win this thing. The financial markets are starting to panic at any rate.

Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
So did Remain not have much of a GOTV operation or what?
Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
So if Leave goes through I suppose the plan is to vacation there quick to take advantage of the low exchange rate before it ruins the economy.

Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
It's crazy that this is happening. I wonder if Johnson or someone else will stage a leadership challenge within the Conservative Party if this result holds. Or if they'll try to call an early election like the really posh-sounding guy on the BBC mentioned as a possibility.

Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
BBC calling it for Leave at 4:40am.
Welcome to this brave new world.
Meanwhile the GBP is at its lowest point since 1985.
Scotland and NI voted to Remain, England and Wales voted for Leave.

I dunno if we've seen a PM who miscalculated this badly since Anthony Eden.

They brought back the inside of Big Ben!
This UKIP dude (their leader in the Welsh Assembly) says that he wants to impose tariffs against Chinese steel and then a minute later says "we're free traders" and want to stay that way.

The isolationists win. The 'remains' too comfortable and complacent to get out and vote? Bad feeling about this.

Re: UK in/out referendum on the EU (Brexit vs Bremain)
Mmmm, & now the shit starts to roll. Im sure people are celebrating, a bit previous for me. I can see no end of "teething" problems that will make things jolly hard here before we see an upturn, if there is one ?

I'm morbidly curious about where things are going but I really hope that it comes with as low a human cost/burden as possible.
I want to see what Cameron has to say but I should probably go to sleep soon. It's 3am here.

I don't think Cameron should resign immediately, he got us into this mess it seems right he handles the intial discussions to leave.
I repeat once more F*CK F*CK F*CK.
Well done Davey the pig scarer, you both saved and destroyed the UK (though that was inevitable after 2014...)

Holy shit, he's actually gonna do it. Not immediately, but before October, and he won't invoke Article 50 himself.
