Well this discussion is useless, even by our standards! Shocked No

Pettytyrant101 wrote:(...)
For me the difference between my feelings on RTD and Moffat boil down to Moffat era can be up and down episode to episode (arguably Who always has been) whereas RTD is up and down inside individual episodes. When it comes to rewatching RTD I find myself just rewatching scenes as I cant be bothered with the surrounds usually.

I agree that RTD is up and down within episodes. It makes most episodes watchable, in all series. When the downs are too many, a few ups won't be enough. I lost interest, I have no emotional ties with Clara or 12.

Finrod's been watching "The Blacklist" on viaplay, I physically cringe at the dialogue and the cliches and can't stand to watch more than a few seconds. That is far worse than being boring, I'll give Moffat some credit there.

following the recent nonsense on the Who, Sherlock and Star Wars threads I have decided to take a break from all of those threads for this year. I am going to avoid anywhere that may lead to unnecessary shenanigans, its starting to put me off from posting and its not nice for others to have to put up with, and I am sorry for that and would like to apologize to anyone if I have increasingly become a pain in the arse. I don't like myself in the bitchy mode and I feel I have let myself willingly been drawn into confrontation just for the hell of it without thinking about other people on the forum. It was selfish of me and I apologise again. From now on I refuse to be drawn into fuckwittery about Moffat and will confine myself to the other threads from now on.

I lost track of following your train of thought halfway through Amarie- could you clarify?

When you talk of downs and ups are we still talking RTD or Moffat?
And are you saying that because RTD episodes are very hit and miss within themselves there is at least always a good bit?

I am amazed you came halfway through and lived to tell about it, this train is off the rails more often than not. Laughing

It was a bit of both, both RTD and series and stuff in general.

I think a break is doing me good though, the Sherlock special seemed to spark a tiny glimmer of hope that I might sit down and watch Who again. Eventually. Maybe?

Well I thought series 9 really was something different. It doesn't all work, its very experimental, Moffat deploys his new writers and directors in interesting ways, and it has some stand out moments, and at least one episode considered by many, myself included, to be one of the best of Who, especially if watched inits intended place. It has up and down like all Who, especially Who that's pushing the edges a bit, but the downs are never that far down, but the ups, they are really up high.

I've loved Capaldi from day 1, but from a lot of what I've been reading for many this series was when he became the Doctor for them. Worth giving a go I would say.

Capaldi's not as relatable as Matt Smith. He may be the more talented actor, but you just don't feel for him.

Dunno about that- I felt plenty for him this series, brought a genuine tear to my eye on at least three occasions. And the last series from the Doctor's perspective was very personal and very emotional and that relied on Capaldi conveying that across the series- from general responses to the series overall he seems to have succeeded with audience and critics alike.

Nice one Rotten Tomatoes... Now whose pockets are getting padded for this outrage?!

Anyway, that is just what a Christmas Special should be, so I'm looking forward to it! Last year's was far too grim for me.
