I hope they are wrong- and not just about Capaldi- if thats the plan I cant believe Moffat left agreeing to that way forward- it sounds horrible.

My thoughts exactly (though apparently said G.B poster has only posted a couple of times before and was usually proven wrong...so I'm holding out hope that they are just trolling) seems like the BBC playing things as safe and as commercial as possible.

No

No thanks, good actor but I didn't want a 3rd Young Doctor in a row, Capaldi seems popular enough with the general public, and a least he shook up New Who and reminded the viewers of the older Doctors a bit more.

If Capaldi does leaves my dream choice would  probably be Chiwetel Ejiofor (who was rumoured to be a top choice to replace Tennant back in 2009) but I doubt he'd be interested or affordable now unfortunately...

he isn't Doctory enough. Gilgun is, because he can be psychokilla one minute and cheeky goofy chappie the next. he has range. not saying Chiwetel doesn't have range because he is a great actor, but you need a certain type of goofy to be the Doctor. I just don't think Chiwetel has that. obviously imo.

Fair enough Figgs, that's possibly true about the madcap range, but I think Chiwetel would have nailed the haunted Alien aspects of the character (hard to believe he was only 19 when he filmed Amistad Shocked ), as I said it's unlikely he'd ever get the part, but after Capaldi steps down (hopefully years from now) I think they should move forward from the New Who template of younger Doctors and experiment a bit more with the leading man (though I have a few other actors I'd be intrigued to take the part)

Just my opinion.

All these trailers Petty, for something we've already watched! Unless they add something to the overall experience by contrasting various scenes or something.
That must be it. Maybe I should watch one sometime and see for myself. Razz

I haven't sen any but the very first episode of this series. Is it worth watching? I liked the first Capaldi series, but kind of got distracted with other things and missed nearly all of this one.

I am sure Petty will give you a ten page essay with video clips on how fantabulous it is. Very Happy but I think most of it was meh to say the least. The last three episodes are worth watching because finally Capaldi gets his act together and becomes a coherent character, and quite likeable to watch.

That must be it. - Forest

It mainly is- I tend to pick videos which highlight particular themes that resonate through the series. The other criteria is more of a technical one,l a s someone who dabbles mildly in editing I tend to favour videos with above average skills in the editing department- a very important feature for a trailer or thematic style vid.

Ah ignore Figg Orwell- its well worth a watch as a series. Figg found it meh most folks didn't which is why it was the winner of the Annual Golden Tomato Awards on Rotten Tomatoes given to the program with the highest review scores over its run with an average of 4.5/5 and a staggering 100% from official critics in positive reviews.

At the moment it is nonsense as Capaldi has said nothing- the official line form the BBC is thre usual one- he is the Doctor contracted til the end of series 10- which is normal the Doctor is always on a rolling yearly contract.

However according to yesterdays Daily Record Capaldi has let the BBC know he is quite happy to stay on. Sadly however the actual decision of stay or replace with the new showrunner arriving will probably be made further up the chain by the BBC execs.

Disagree completely- a change of showrunner is no excuse to change the Doctor- after all all versions are the same person so whats the point?- especially when you currently have probably the best actor to have ever taken the role already in place.

I would much rather Chibnal has an early say and input into the choice of new companion for series 10 so they are ready to go with those characters when he takes over than them mucking about with the role of Doctor.

Capaldi is not the best actor ever to have taken the role. By a long margin. Tennant was way more popular. fact.

Tennant is a good actor, I liked his Hamlet among other stuff, but his Doctor- no, not for me.
And I don't think in all honesty Tennants Doctor could have carried an entire episode on his own the way Capaldi did so seemingly effortlessly.
