Re: Doctor Who [12]
Seems Moffat thought they'd be a good chance he was not doing series 10 as he revealed in an interview about the xmas special-
Also two casting announcements for the xmas special- Matt Lucas and Greg Davies. Interestingly though both can and have played straight roles to great effect they are better known for comedy acting.
The press release synopsis for the episode-
Sorry cant remember who mentioned the roundel type elements in Ishildir's apartments-
- Spoiler:
- '“We’ve just lost Clara, so I didn’t want to go straight into a new companion,” he went on. “I’ll be honest, I brought River Song back in because I thought there was a possibility I’d never write it [Doctor Who] again so that’d be my goodbye.”

The press release synopsis for the episode-
- Spoiler:
"It's Christmas Day on a remote human colony and the Doctor is hiding from Christmas Carols and Comedy Antlers.
But when a crashed spaceship calls upon the Doctor for help, he finds himself recruited into River Song's squad and hurled into a fast and frantic chase across the galaxy.
King Hydroflax is furious, and his giant Robot bodyguard is out-of-control and coming for them all! And when will River Song work out who the Doctor is?
All will be revealed on a starliner full of galactic super-villains and a destination the Doctor has been avoiding for a very long time."

- Spoiler:
- but on a rewatch I agree. And an initial impression I have I am now fairly certain of- the teleport bracelet snapped on the Doctor looks remarkably like the one the Time Lords used on the 4th Doctor in Genesis of the Daleks- just minus the Galiifreyean writing. Implying the THEY who ordered Ishldir to lure the Doctor into the trap are the Time Lords

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Today we had the pleasure of hosting Doctor Who himself, Peter Capaldi for a trip through the Shire.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Will we be seeing a more "rounded" Tardis ? Will Dr Who pop out with large fluffy feet ?

Re: Doctor Who [12]
My thoughts on Heaven Sent
The Good
A) Fantastic Cinematography
B) Capaldi handled the episode very well as the only major character, very intense performance
C) The Veil was pretty dammed creepy at points
D) Weirdly existential and experimental...
The Bad
A) The episode was both incredibly confusing, as I understand it
Sleep no more and Kill the Moon may have been very weak overall, but at least they had interesting stories and didn't treat the audience as a sounding board for the writers to show off.
B) Frankly for such a high concept story...I found it to be a load of prentenious self indulgent twaddle more often than not, would perhaps have worked for a minisode or a short segment of an episode, but wasn't enough to fill the space of a hour...can you really see this going down well with kids? This is Doctor Who not Sherlock has a crisis of confidence.
And I think the Hybrid cliffhanger means
I bet Petty will love this...
I'm not sure how to score that...I didn't really 'enjoy' it as it was less a story, more a self indulgent 'look how clever am I' thing by Moffat...whether the self indulgence was actually 'good' I'm less sure about...

- Spoiler:
- the doctor was trapped inside his own thoughts, the castle being a metaphor for this, every time he made a confession the castle turned and so did the confession dial

Re: Doctor Who [12]
hmmm I kind of agree. it was weird. It had a very strong AI (the movie) vibe to it, it was creepy but not particularly in a good way. I too liked the way it looked but the Groundhog way quickly got on my nerves. not sure about this one.

Liked it. Guessed most of it, some of it immediately. For me it wasn't weird but rather more .. intense.

this episode wasn't very good for children imo. it was more of an adult fanwank.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
It is turning into an adults indulgence thing as episodes go by. I cant see my son leaving his Xbox for this ?

I reckon its Moffats swansong and he's just indulging himself and forgetting this is a kids show really.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
srsly though this was an idiotic episode because..
- Spoiler:
- After one billion years you would have thought that he would have used his loaf and sent himself a simple letter telling himself what was going to happen, what he had done and what the consequences were. JUST ONCE IN ONE BILLION YEARS! you don't do the same thing every single time, there are infinite possibilities and slight fluctuations. instead of leaving cryptic messages like BIRD just fooking spell it out. and no way could you punch your way through that wall in one billion years. it was unbelievable. It was horrible for children and would confuse and scare them in a bad way as the theme was far too complicated and dark for young kids to understand. its hard to know who exactly Moffat thought he was aiming it at considering its supposed to be a kids show at its heart. Ithought it was torturous just for the sake of spectacle, it didn't need to be so brutal and nightmarish, it wasn't fun at all, and I believe Who should always leave you with a light heart even when its sad, it should have some spark of hope and underlying humanity. this was just unwavering misery from start to finish. It was stylish but pretty empty.

Re: Doctor Who [12]
- Spoiler:
- I agree Dr Who SHOULD leave you feeling optimistic, that there isnt REALLY monsters under the bed & even if there were the Dr will sort it all out for you Im surprised after all that repetitive punching he didnt get one scratch ? that wall should have smashed his hand ?

Re: Doctor Who [12]
Remember how their were rumours floating around that Peter Jackson wanted to direct an episode of Who? He's posted a video response to Steven Moffat on his facebook page, with a a few special guests:
