The amazing thing is Martin doesn't mention it for the whole next book, and yet it still sticks in your memory that there was this mysterious and no doubt significant word. He can be such a bastard.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
Considering that it literally began as twilight fan fiction, I'd say that's quite clear.Sinister71 wrote:halfwise wrote:Gad, 50 Shades is even worse writing than I imagined. Brilliantly played.
As someone with knowledge of that type of lifestyle (don't ask), my wife despised the book and every situation in it, as I view it, is a bunch of Twilight fantasy.

Yeah, he really got an outlet for his love of cliffhangers in those lasty two books. (He put this love partly down to his experience of working in television.)
Let them say they cut away the end for space reasons, but they did make the cut just at the correct time to leave just about every storyline without a conclusion.

A teaser, to a teaser, to a teaser.. errr.. to a teaser..
But some new fotage actually.
I'm thinking those last two episodes of season 4 could be pretty cool to see in an IMAX setting, but they're not showing it here I think.

Hmm...GoT on IMAX - I have to admit it's rather tempting.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens to Arya. Since season 2, she's been on her own journey, more or less separate to the main plot.
Normally, I'd expect her story to play out a certain way this season. If it was another show. Ned taught me never to expect a damn thing with the GoT plot.
My wish is a necromancer will reanimate Joffrey. We could see him die again. Slower this time. This looks like a job for Ramsay Snow.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
I am really looking forwards to season 5 too, though I do have some trepidations. Which is mostly down to how much original writing there was in season 4, how much I struggled with some of it and how much more original writing there will be in season 5.
It struck me when thinking about it recently that Season 4 kind of made a similar impression on me as Return of the King. In as much as that while I really wanted to enjoy both, I struggle to see either without cringing at parts of them.
I do really hope and want it to be good. Because, as much as anything else, this story deserves to be told well.

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
About time we get a proper S5 trailer. I hope that makes its way online quickly!
Also, I love the "people at every nerd convention" image. The wierded out security guards are definitely always present. And the body pillow guys.

Ok, here's the trailer. Only a fan filmed version so far, but that might be all we get considering they have labeled it an "imax exclusive".

From a CNET announcement that the next book won't be out until 2016:
"Fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" TV adaptation won't have to wait long for Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Arya Stark and their unhappy families to return to their TV screens. "

Re: Game of Thrones -- TV ONLY
My understanding of the latest on the publication date front is that Martin hasn't communicated to his UK editor that TWOW will be ready in 2015, but that he also just hasn't been in touch with her much at all lately, so it's possible the book could be finished soon and then added to the schedule. But the more likely scenario is that it won't be ready until at least 2016.

'Tis.
So, HBO released the trailer oficially. So, here's a proper quality version.
And someone on another forum put together a list of what it contains. (Spoilered for length mostly.)
