Is this really what religion is all about ?- Azriel

Yes, sadly. Wherever anyone claims to have an ultimate truth about what life is and how everyone should live it you have war.

Shocking scenes in Austria as Maccabi Haifa players are targeted by pitch invaders carrying Palestinian flags. Not what you want to see at all.

This is exactly what I was worried about- Israel are not helping the Jewish people with their actions, its feeding anti-semitism and some countries in Europe already have enough trouble with a growing far right without giving them free fuel for their fire.

Worse and worse-

'At least 15 people have been killed and more than 200 injured when a UN-run school used as a shelter in Gaza was shelled, the Gaza health ministry says.
Hundreds of Palestinians were in the school in Beit Hanoun, fleeing heavy fighting in the area.
It is the fourth time that a UN facility has been hit in Israel's offensive against Hamas militants.
In the past 16 days of fighting, more than 725 Palestinians and 30 Israelis have been killed, officials say.
"We have over 118,000 people now who are sheltering in UN schools... people are running out of food. Water is also a serious concern," Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday he regretted each Palestinian civilian death, but said they were "the responsibility of Hamas".'- BBC

The Israeli attitude to the civilian deaths is just incredible.

the West is making wimpy complaints and trying to be seen to protest, but nobody has actually said anything with utter conviction. Is there no one capable of actually saying to Israel, stop this genocide or there will be war crimes courts waiting for the lot of you. Theres a deafening quiet. The UN, useless. Europe, useless. We need courts set up like after the Bosnian Serb wars.

Well this is hat happens when the worlds only superpower bankrolls them, when no one can do anything because we let them have illegal nukes and when its way too late to stop it because we never protested when they walled an entire people in.

Its shameful but almost certainly too late to do anything, any solution through strong arming will probably be even worse than what is happening now.

I would like to see it, but with the amount of money the Jewish lobby has in American politics and media, I cant see it- I mean if you o to Fox News now for example the only mention of whats is going on is in the small headline print halfway down the page and it reads- 'Hamas resists Kerry's bid for cease-fire deal amid heavy fighting in Gaza'

No mention of all the Palestinian dead, no mention that they bombed a UN shelter. And if you go to their opinions section you find pro-Isreali propaganda such as - 'Gaza invasion: What the world needs to understand about Hamas and its tunnels'

It's not like world powers are lining up to intervene in the vast majority of cases of obvious human rights abuses around the world. The Israel/Palestine situation is unusual for a number of reasons, but the lack of will to get involved in messy local conflicts in not uncommon.

Also, a nitpick that I feel compelled to make because I said the same thing in discussions about Syria: Israel's nuclear weapons are not illegal since they never signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Granted, international law basically just means whatever the most powerful country/ies want it to, but there's no basis for holding a country to the terms of a treaty that it has never been party to. India and Pakistan are in the same boat, also never having signed the treaty (and having nukes), and North Korea withdrew from the NPT a decade or so ago when they picked up the pace of their nuclear program.

In which case if you have nuclear weapons without agreeing to international law you should get no help or protection from any international law.

But it highlights the vast gulf here- this is a child with a sling being assaulted by a behemoth armed to the teeth- Israel has deployed helicopters, state of the art planes, gun boats, tanks, missiles and Palestine have what to defend themselves with?- homemade rockets basically.

And I am not sure western governments will be able to just ignore this one- there are growing protests in almost every european country against Israel- there have been two in Scotland in the last week alone for example.
Anti-seminitsm is bubbling up in other places, the potential consequences for Jews living outside Israel are growing by the day.

I'm not sure of the basis or the wisdom for throwing a country out of the international community because they refused to sign a treaty.  Countries that do far more terrible things get to remain full members of international bodies.  Heck, even talking strictly about Israel, having nukes is really far down on the list of bad things they've done.

That said, I'm not exactly pro-Israel, and I agree that the vast disparity in technology and weaponry shows how disingenuous Israel's claims of acting in self-defense are.

its all a bit worrying, what with the rise of right wing parties in Europe, thousands of refugees from the African continent sailing daily into Italy by Sea and then camping out throughout Europe or in organized camps, the rise of religious/race/antisemitism hate crimes, fundamentalist Trojan horses in English schools, and to cap it all off fucking Ebola! what next I ask you.  Shocked thats the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse sorted.

Not quite. There's still the small matter of the colour of the fourth horse.

Wikipedia: "Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse" wrote:The color of Death's horse is written as khlōros (χλωρός) in the original Koine Greek, which can mean either green/greenish-yellow or pale/pallid. The color is often translated as "pale", though "ashen", "pale green", and "yellowish green" are other possible interpretations (the Greek word is the root of "chlorophyll" and "chlorine"). Based on uses of the word in ancient Greek medical literature, several scholars suggest that the color reflects the sickly pallor of a corpse. In some modern artistic depictions, the horse is distinctly green.

I've always assumed it was some shade of grey! Nod

No Lorien should not be blue because it looks like starlight (and an ewok village) and Sam in the book quite clearly indicates that its not like what he expected- 'stars and moons' but green and living. So green it is!

I wanted it to be golden Azriel- but because of the heavy blue filter on the footage I couldn't make it golden, it just goes a weird sickly colour at the edges, which is why I opted for the green filter instead to hide the blue- anything but blue starlight basically as thats the one explicit thing the book says it was not.
