Re: Music [2]
Just did this. Nothing to do with Requiem, which I will need to put some actual time into, but thought I would post this in the mean time.
I fucked up a note right near the end! That is what you get for being too lazy to do more than 1 take!

Re: Music [2]
Maybe a bit longer if Amarie and Halfwise wants to try and put some parts on. So 2.5-3?Lancebloke wrote:maybe only a minute, minute and a half as our first project?

Re: Music [2]
i think we won't be able to make it around a minute, i think 2-3 minutes are more likely.
Re: Music [2]
It was right near the end.... you were probably bored by then!!Norc wrote:also. i barely heard that one note
Have just dropped tuned my guitar so it is ready!
And yes re the length of the song.. 2-3 mins makes sense. Not sure what I was thinking of...
Re: Music [2]
Looking forward to hearing it Lance.

(Probably shouldn't be saying that as both my brothers are jazz muicians. Well they probably won't come on here. Nevermind.)

Re: Music [2]
Jazz.... some of it is good but I remember once going to a Jazz cafe on the South Bank in London (when I was doing music production at college) and there was a band playing. That was fine but what I didn't get what that every now and again, one of them would improv a little, maybe a bar and a half, and then everyone around would clap..... I didn't get it.
Re: Music [2]
maybe i am a bit too classical-music oriented but i hate when people clap in the middle of a piece, be it x-factor or a jazz-club..
Re: Music [2]
Ok.... so as a guide for feedback from you:
If I get time, I will take on your feedback for Sunday and try and put something together at about 2 mins as a complete guide track for everyone.
Feel free to send me bits (Petty's skydrive is a good place to drop sound bites) and I get stitch some stuff together so you can hear what it sounds like.
Edit - Video text amended

Re: Music [2]
hmm.... i think the intro is too spicy.. it should just be .. kinda plain but powerful. also u play all the best bits but.. yeah.. i'll see what i can get done this weekend.
Re: Music [2]
Too spicy? Do you think arppegiated chords is the way forward... just with less notes in there or something different.Norc wrote:hmm.... i think the intro is too spicy.. it should just be .. kinda plain but powerful. also u play all the best bits but.. yeah.. i'll see what i can get done this weekend.
Also... where I have put some comments (not sure if you can see them or if you were just listening) I was suggesting other things playing what I was doing on the guitar as a guide.

Re: Music [2]
WHY DID U REMOVE IT?! i was just gonna listen to it again and look at the text and give u a proper feedback!
Re: Music [2]
Bluebottle, Amarie etc... if you have any suggestions for your own pieces and where we could fit in, that would be great!! Even if you could drop a rough recording(if you can) of something then it helps get the arrangement sorted before you record properly.
Re: Music [2]
Yes, it does seem to be all the rage in the jazz world. They really do appreciate improvisation.
I do remember though one of my favorite musicians, not jazz though, exclaiming quite loudly at the start of a song when people had started clapping along "I didn't write no claps!" So you get both I guess.
I was talking about Peer Gynt on the other thread. I've been trying to convince my brother to get his band to do a Django Reinhardt version of "Dovergubbens hall" ("The hall of the mountain kin" (?)) for a while. Hasn't seemed very interested this far though.
