I just switched back to Ubuntu and I downloaded Chrome the same night so I didn't have to use Firefox.
Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
I like the adblocking and stuff on Firefox, seems more robust than Chromes- I aint seen an ad in ages, or this thread mind you

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
I actually stopped using Adblock when a guy I know who's a webmaster told me about how it costs him money -- he still has to pay for the bandwidth of visitors but doesn't get any ad revenue from them since they aren't seeing the ads (which pay by the view). Plus I think Internet ads in general have gotten less obtrusive and obnoxious over the years.
Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Occasional ads on webpages are one thing- being forced to watch them on players and youtube sucks.

Adblock is a necessity on dial-up. Some ads can take 15 minutes to download.
NoScript too.

I have adblock turned off for certain sites that I want to support (redlettermedia.com, thatguywiththeglasses.com). There are some youtube content creators that I want to support, but I always forget to turn it off for their videos.

Just highlighting this for the new page.
Not that the adblock conversation isn't interesting.

Re: The 2013 Forumshire Awards
Thanks for the highlight, Blue, I would've missed it If it's ok with everyone (and Tin and Petty especially), may I suggest we do it all on Sunday? It's very possible that I'll be neither home nor sober Saturday, though I'm not sure yet. Still, Sundays are only good for dreading Mondays, so why not brighten it up a little?

I switched to Firefox recently from Chrome and the adblocking is a bit better. I mostly use it to disable the tracking malware they install. It's always really scary when I see that it's blocked 5 or 6 companies from tracking me all from a single website
