It tends to wary for me, it either does or doesn't ... itch. Wink

But, yeah, different sorts of amalgamations of fabrics and different types of wool obviously helps.  Nod

Hm, but why wouldn't the first be subject to copyright if it is an artwork as well.

Copyright only applies to artworks, you see. And that's quite a strict standard as well.  Shrugging

normally.. (like now) when it is between -5 and -15 i (and most people) wear way too little clothes. Like i would have underwear but then only jeans and t-shirt + a sweater.. then woolen socks and some home knitted socks over, and then seal skin boots (or just shoes.. like converse or something) and a snowboard-jacket.. or a coat, same fabric as sherlock.. and scarf. and mabe gloves.

but! if i don't want to freeze my ass of but still look cool, i wear a pear of long-woolen underwear trousers under my jeans and a big knitted woolen jumper. i normally don't wear the top woolen underwear under all my clothes, because it can get really hot when i get inside or at the bus or something, and it is much easier to peel off some top layers.

but if i am like ski-trip or something, i go full hardcore with wool nearest the skin, proper snow-trousers (like snowboard stuff) and all that Nod

That first explanation of a fake edit made sense, the others are clearly futile attempts at understanding by those who don't.

But um, back to the wool. How about a layer of synthetic against the skin to wick away the moisture and protect against wool-itch? I'm sure it must have been done by now...

That sounds similar to winter wear here too, Norc.

Halfy, in the art of layering, I have single layer polypropylene knit bottoms that I'll wear under jeans or under wool for the purpose you're talking about.

But the thing is, the polypro needs washing a lot sooner than the wool, so if laundry is an issue, it's best to have several washable underlayers which wash and dry quickly, rather than having them stitched into double-layers that are harder to wash and take longer to dry.

But high grade merino is really quite comfortable I think.

We used this one (without the stuff on the shoulders, the model in the picture is new) both winter and summer; it's surprisingly warm, dries in minutes, and after a few days you just turn it inside out and that's all the laundry you need (at least in the middle of nowhere!) :DI'm guessing this will give Orwell ideas, but I'll take my chances Very Happy

I thought you itched when you were itchy and scratch when you were really itchy!  You itch to get rid of the irritation and when you cant, you scratch to get rid of the skin!

Orwell did say he was alive and well on the last page, so hopefully everything is alright.

Shame to hear that Orwell, here's hoping he will be back sooner rather than later. All in his own time, of course.  Nod

Rolling Eyes  Break? thats Scotsidiotstanese for a big hangover.

talking of onesies I wear at least 6 layers starting with cotton and working outwards to heavy wool. No scratching, no sweating, just take a layer off when its needed. On top of the 6 layers I put a scarf, gloves, feather down coat and boots. If it gets below 13 degrees in the house I sometimes (like always  Suspect ) wear a wool hat in bed cos theres nothing worse than having a warm body but a freezing head, in bed. well they used to wear them in the ye oldy days because its a good idea.  Shrugging I dont wear boots in bed though.

talking of wearing boots in bed, that A-Hole better be back in time for my birthday.  Mad

I suppose Petty is entitled to a vacation once in a while. Cheers Petty! pub

((Still he's only 136 posts short of 25,000. That would have been a cool spot to take a break!))

Now back to long underwear.

My mother worked at a hospital before I was born. A lot of the ''customers'' were loggers who'd been injured on the woods. The full length white wool "longhandles" were the universal underwear, though by the time she'd see it, it was usually dark grey or black from dirt and soot.

Even in this dirty group there was one story that stood out. A man was brought in with a chest injury. When they started to undress him they found 5 layers of long wool underwear.

He'd clearly been wearing them for a very long time because his body hair had grown and felted through the fabric of the nearest two layers, which had to be very carefully shaved off him, half an inch at a time.  Shocked

Figgs, if you had long underwear made out of cats you would only need one layer. Domesticated cats make the best clothes I hear.
