Hey! I'm no Grinch!
I love Christmas! The decorations, the music, the food, the movies/tv specials! I love the secular aspects of Christmas, and I like to think of Christmas in my future household as "Christmas without the lies."

Look out, more artwork. This time featuring Bard, and the Master with Alfrid (who seems to be cozying up a bit too much). Maybe the Master doesn't have the kind of personal-bubble-needs that I have. Either that or I sense a new romantic subplot.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
I don't mind the Bilbo poster, or the Thranduil poster (although they aren't great IMO) but whats up with the Bard poster. Alfrid and the master of Laketown look terrible for me. And what's Alfrid doing getting ready to drop to his knees and service his master to put it politely. IMO They could have come up with something much more dramatic and beautiful to represent Laketown.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
What's up with the way Bard's fingers are wrapped around the bowstring? they look backwards, and are wrapped too far around I think. Should be using the tips, not wrapped like he's strangling the string.

I think that's actually a way to hold it, maybe stylistically they decided to have the lake men shoot in that way??

Both improvements Mrs Figg although there is a certain element of polishing a turd about the endeavour!

I always enjoy your image edits, Mrs Figg. I didn't realize just how orange Thrandy was until I saw your comparison, though. The spray tan comment is apt.
Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
thanks Eldo. why on earth did they make an Elf orange? its weird.

Given the eyebrows, I'd say he's not only spray tanning, he's bleaching his hair. He's a southern California elf.

At the risk of derailing this thread (too), isn't the colour of your eyebrows often very different to your natural hair colour, like facial hair?

Redheads have red eyebrows, brunettes have brunette eyebrows. Blondes maybe don't fit the pattern, but I'm beginning to suspect things about blondes.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
well the trailer is here then
http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=38921
i dunno if people have posted it yet or anything, and i am way too tired to look up if you have.
my initial thoughts:
- BILBOOO TALKING TO SMAUGH!
- elf love story?
- Bard
- SMAUG! TALKED OMgfhabnlknBXFNLB
brb... listening to Smaug..
ok. i hate that they showed him too early and now we even got his voice.. i was like looking forward to be blown away in the threatre.. but, that said, i absolutely LOVE what benedict has done with it.

It's the midnight sun, honest I must start paying more attention to eyebrow colour

Wow great job with the poster, Figgs.
Despite being front and center, the eye naturally wants to gravitate to the others because Bilbo isn't doing anything.

Re: The Desolation of Smaug pre-release thread [2] [SPOILERS]
I don't really mind, but I do think it's weird that they kept everything Smaug-related on lockdown even through the release of the first movie only to have the big reveal(s) occur in a trailer.Norc wrote:ok. i hate that they showed him too early and now we even got his voice.. i was like looking forward to be blown away in the threatre.. but, that said, i absolutely LOVE what benedict has done with it.
