'The new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be unveiled tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1st) at 6am PT / 9am ET!'

I'm hoping most of it will be new footage. I think it's about 30 seconds longer than the previous trailer, so we are guaranteed at least that much new footage. Whether or not it will be any good? Shrugging

Word from the Russian Tolkien site is that their source has said its mostly new material, but shares a few shots with the first trailer. But that's to be expected of pretty much any trailer. Smile

Have you noticed that your eye goes straight to broody Kili and Thorin and you kinda slide over Bilbo like he is invisible.

This would all make much more sense if those three other dwarves actually had more importance to the plot and more character development. But as of now, I just think "why them? Sure their attractive, but why? Legolas wasn't on the posters of two towers or rotk?"

Bilbo's pretty much front and center on that poster (unlike the first DOS trailer).

he might be front and centre but he is mainly wallpaper. The dynamic pose of Thorin is what you notice first, and then the crisply in focus broody of Kili. Bilbo is just bland mush in the middle. its quite clever really. It stops people moaning about Bilbo not being important while subtly training your eye to the 'real' heros, Thorin and Kili.

I can't say that my eyes were more drawn to Thorin or anything, but I can't speak for anyone else's experience. But the first thing I noticed (other than the blue) was that Martin Freeman is still playing Bilbo as confused above all else. Slack-jawed, in this case Razz

I remember when I found out there was no Santa. It was actually like a 3-for-1, because I found out there was no Santa, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy all at the same time. Or is that the way it is with all kids? It seems logical.

I was really crushed when I didn't get any presents labeled "From: Santa" the first Christmas after I learned/realized that Santa wasn't real. I wanted to believe, dammit! Sad

If I ever have children (and that's a big 'if') I'm going to teach them about the historical Saint Nicholas and the importance of giving rather than filling their heads with a lot of optimistic nonsense that's just going get squashed in a few years.
