Her grooming standards clearly do not match mine.  She needs to let her bangs grow.  Got all these unsightly lumps and holes on her face....which I suspect are related to sensory organs but such things should be kept far more discreet.  Egad.

Naturally I tipped the waiter and crawled out the washroom window of the local pub.

Look it up. You may want to go, which is why I'm pushing it as a forumshire get-together. I almost bought a flight a month ago when I heard Tinuviel would be there, but since nobody else made noises about showing up I cancelled. But with a year to plan and stash cash, I think it could become a reality.

So start thinking about it...this is an idea I'm not dropping.

Most people needed a more than a few months to put together funds, etc. It wasn't the best time for me either, but our Queen would be there, so I was willing to make the trip if at least two others were coming. Now that Petty is re-employed that increases the chances...so I won't bow out yet. But the sooner we reach the threshold the cheaper the ticket I can get.

And we found a campground within easy commute. Tempting. If not this year, next year. But we'd miss Tin. Sad

We need at least a year in advance and some decent planning, local help and someone on top. Like avoid creepers and make sure there are real people showing up Razz

I'd love to meet some of you folks, but unfortunately the only time I can travel is during the winter when the bogs are sleeping. Sleep

I don't think it takes much planning.  We go to Oxonmoot, have one time planned when we all meet at the Eagle and Child pub.  Things will take their course from there.

We are all quite capable of finding our accommodations, etc. The age of internet means no need for one person to serve as an information clearing house.  I agree a year is best, though I hate like hell knowing Tin will be there this October with nobody else to meet her. Sad Maybe she can give us the best suggestions after reconoitering for us.

I've wanted to visit England for ages but I'd want such an expensive (and thus rare) trip to be worth it, which means I'd have a whole list of stuff to hit up and would have to be there for at least a full week.  I wouldn't plan on spending more than a day or two in Oxford.  Meeting forum people has always been on my prospective itinerary for any European trip and that's certainly still the case, but I don't think I would attend Oxonmoot proper. I wouldn't be averse to trying to time a trip to sync with it, though.

The Oxonmoot fees are quite reasonable, I like the idea of it going on and being registered so one can drop in and out as wanted.

It'd like to visit England and I'm of the same mind as Eldo, that if I went it would have to be more than Oxonmoot and a forum meet up. Unfortunately this just isn't in the budget at the moment.

If you do youth hostels and take the bus rather than the train, the biggest budget item will be the plane ticket. I'd focus completely on a reasonable plane ticket and the rest you can do on $50/day if you are careful about food.

Halfy knows his traveling Wink but i see oxonmoot is in september, and school/studies start now 10th august, so.... That is a problem for me. I understand Eldo and i would like to spend more time in the UK once i am there and try to do more stuff, but since it's in september i might not have the time (which sucks) .. It should've been in july or something.. Sad

Good point.  May have to forgo Oxonmoot, obvious rallying point as it is.  Of course flights are more expensive in summer.

How about spring break? Though some are before easter and some after....sigh.

in the US spring break usually corresponds to Easter. Problem is, the week before or the week after? Different colleges make different decisions.

Academic schedules aren't relevant for me anymore, but I'd rather try to travel during the non-peak season so I could get cheaper air tickets.
