The big attraction, especially for a graduate student, is to be able to sink yourself totally into one topic. You rarely get the chance or resources to go that deep again, so just throw yourself in and enjoy the heck out of it.

And the kibbitzing and networking with like minded people can also be a peak experience. Coffee, wine, absinthe cellars....

Not heading into the wild: if you forget a toothbrush you can buy another one. Hell, you even speak the language.

Then you've got Mr Figg with a warm welcome mat to come back to, it's not like when your parents tossed you out the door for college with hopes that you'd only ever be back again for tea and holidays.

With all of that, why should you be stressed? Wink

(and we'll always be here for you.)

u're not alone, Petty!- Norc

A Scotshobbit is never alone with a buckie Norc. drunken

do you have buckie flavoured coffee?- Mrs Figg

In theory, yes.

Lance will show me the view from a huge erection- Mrs Figg

Yes and that view will consist of concrete as far as the eye can see and his erection will probably set you on fire, and not in a good way.

"what are you going to show me"

You are asking that of a drunk in a kilt?

The Thames doesnt meander- its like the Ankh in Discworld, you only know its a river because its moving very slightly faster than the land on either side, and if you go fishing in it you have to jump up and down on the hooks to get them to sink. Nod

What you want Mrs Figg are proper Sottish rivers, with Salmon in them and willow trees along the banks. Nod
