All in all I do think that's a very good map, though.  I think "Middle America" is a little too broad, but maybe that's just me. Wink
Ah alright.  Though 'mid-Atlantic' is not a term you hear much in a cultural context.  Here you go:

A very apt description. Laughing And you're right, it's not something you hear very much about culturally because we're a hybrid zone.  Very much Northeastern in the Baltimore-DC metro area, very much Southern once you get east of the Bay or south of Richmond, and pretty much Appalachian west of Sideling Hill.

Yes, it's certainly very pretty.

Particularily in that weather, though I guess it's not like that at all times. I remember reading a story of a dutch businessman who bought one of those chalet style places in the Highlands and moved there with his family. It proceded to rain for 90 days straight and he ended up selling up and moving back to the Netherlands to save his marriage. Apparently his wife told him it was her or Scotland.

Though it's probably a bit more dry in your neck of the woods. (I hope:) )

Figg; I actually prefer winter with the snow, it's the darkness and the rain I find tiresome.

this picture is from middle of october. i had a video of my dog acting all stupid which i thougt i|de share, but i have been too lazy to edit it, so i just thought i'de share the picture Smile it was about -12, not sure.. actually kinda unusual that it would snow that much that early, but yeah.. funny thing is, the snow actually stayed, which it seldom does early in winter, but this one stayed so we basically were like BOOM! winter in one day Very Happy it's getting darker and darker though.. daylight between 10 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.. yey.. looking forward -.-"

Scenery looks amazing (if cold) as always Norc. We get about an hour either side of daylight over you Fjordians in the depths of winter.

Except when its really cloudy and overcast (which it is often)- then its basically just a sort of grey twilight all day.

You have actually had proper winter since mid October?

That's wonderfull. Down here in Oslo it's still just wet, cold and dark.

Know what your saying about the darkness, that's the part that bothers me and you have it so much worse than us on that part. The snow is great, though -12 is a bit on the cold side for October.

Yeah, I guess I should be happy we got away with "The place where everything fucking happens." Not that I mind, I'm certainly not a patriot of any kind.

But Petty. Didn't you know that they carried out quite extensive dna testing in Great Brittain some years ago and found that a large percentage of the population in both Scotland and northern England shared a Viking heritage. So we should probably claim you as one of our own.
