Oslo is not too bad, but I get some of the criticism. It's certainly not as spectacular as your part of the world.

Vel, takktakk. Jeg er helt enig med deg når det gjelder OL, Tromsø hadde vært et langt bedre valg. Oslo er ikke så værst. Blir kanskje litt mye hovedstad og sentrum til tider, som du sier, og når man bor så langt nord som deg så kan det kanskje synes veldig langt unna. På den annen side bor du jo på et av de flotteste stedene i verden, så du kan vel ikke klage for mye.

Don't doubt it. Er ikke Tromsø den største byen i verden nord for polarsirkelen? Jeg vet ikke så altfor mye mer om Tromsø, bortsett fra at dere gjerne får et par meter snø om året, men det jeg har hørt høres veldig positivt ut.

I think the Scandinavian connection with Newcastle is well known. The place they found the strongest connection though as far as I remember was York where up to 60% of the male population showed signs of Scandinavian ancestry.

Im a bit surprised by that (though not much as I know there was a big Scandinavian influence there) but I would have thought Orkney or Shetland would be higher.

Yeah, York was the strongest point on the mainland I think. Orkney and Shetland were a bit more Norwegian I think while the influence becomes more danish the further south you get.
