than European fans are louder/more coordinated?- Eldo

Passion Eldo, passion is the difference. Wink

Us fans gives the impression they are not even that fussed when their team lose- here if your team lose thats your week ruined until the next match when you might be able to redeem yourself, and if you lost to a bitter rival, thats like a death in the family.

Now granted that's a pretty stupid way to react to 22 men kicking a ball about but it does make for one hell of an atmosphere to experience inside a ground. Nod

That hooligan vid Chris I think nicely demonstrates the, oddness, to these encounters- they shove, kick and punch each other, but when someone is down and had a few blows, they will back off, or even check they are alright and help their 'enemy' back up again. There are lines, there is a code of conduct. There is a couple of times one guy gets left behind enemy lines as it were- if they wanted they could beat the guy to a pulp, but they dont.
The guys on the vid I posted say the same thing, its a big fight after all- its supposed to be fun not lethal.
Unfortunately the Rangers/Celtic thing is a bit different because of the other stuff involved outside football and sometimes the knives and bottles come out to play too- and that's not good or fun- but a big ole scrap like the one you posted Chris- that's just letting off steam, getting a big adrenalin buzz and sharing in group camaraderie.

I am a liverpool fan. My dad's side of the family are from up that way.

My other halfs son plays for our local teams youth side and we are going to the stadium today as the youth teams are being presented... whatever that means. Will catch the game too.

Songs at games are great. Songs for the club (liverpool have one of the most recognisable in the league) and songs for the players.

You will hear a lot about the home fans being the '12th man.' It is amazing how the crowd can often turn a game. I imagine that as a player, having 40000 fans making noise for you can get the adrenaline pumping and make you want to do well for them.

So it is rewarding in that fans can make a difference to the club both on and off the pitch.

Yeah fans count as part of the club- games have changed on fans geeing up their team, getting the players going.
And yeah, must be pretty awesome (if bad for the ego!) to have 40,000 people singing your name.

My all time favourite player chant was a Rangers one for legendary and outstanding goalkeeper Andy Goram* (so good he was just known as 'the goalie') when he came out in the press admitting he suffered from schizophrenia.

Response of Rangers fans?
To chant, "There's only two Andy Gorams" Very Happy

One of my favourite ones was when Liverpool played Luton in the League Cup. The game finished 3-5 to liverpool but the chant probably summed up the mixture of relief and a little piss take.

'3-1, and you fucked it up!'

Had to explain that to a 5 year old who was convinced they weren't signing what I told him.

Eldo - you should watch some of the big games in Europe. Liverpool vs Man U, Celtic vs Rangers, Barcelona vs Real Madrid, AC Milan vs Inter are good starters. Tend to end up with a few red cards too.

I'd recommend a UK derby Eldo. The Italian games are at least as big, at least as passionate and the football is amazing, at times, but UK football is played at a much faster (some would say rushed) pace than most mainland Euro football.

That vid Chris posted does make it look kind of fun, a very symbolical kind of warfare.

Has to be a code of conduct for war to be fun. I'm reading a history of the effects of technology on warfare, and in discussing the transition from hand-to-hand combat amongst knights to various forms of artillery, the author notes "the bow and arrow allowed a lower class soldier to kill indiscriminately from a distance, thus taking all the fun out of warfare."

Knights would often yield, then be held for ransom. Nobody gets seriously hurt. There's no ransom if hit by an arrow.

That's a beautiful place, Petty Smile I love how you british folk manage to keep your grass and lawns tidy and trimmed, not looking like the amazon rainforest. It's always easy to spot a british lawn Smile

Thats not even a lawn Ringdrotten- its basically scrap ground between some houses either side and two roads, one behind the pov and one down the hill just passed the guy with the dog.
Its a bit dark but if you brighten the screen you can see a path of sorts going down- thats been made over the decades jut by people using it as a shortcut. Very Happy

NBC starting airing English Premier League games recently so I've been meaning to try to catch one. I don't know which games they show or how they decide on them, though.

Only four games I'd say were worth watching out for this weekend coming Eldo looking at the fixtures-

Aston Villa v Newcastle might be a good game. (15.00 GMT)

And Everton v Chelsea could be worth a watch. (17.30 GMT)

Man Utd v Crystal Palace (Man Utd might score a few here) (12.45 GMT)

same goes for Stoke v Man City (Man City might score a few in this one) (15.00 GMT)
