All I can say is that Cumberbatch will be perfect for Smaug, and I REALLY hope they use his facial expressions! The guy looks reptilian already and his voice is just so.... deep. Fantastic actor as well. He and Martin Freeman have great chemistry already, I can't wait for their scene together, which I'm assuming will be in the second film... Banghead

no, the conversation between Bilbo and Smaug will be in the first movie. the second one will be filled with LOTR cameos and the white council and LOADS of Galadriel and Thranduil and Master of Laketown and so on..

I think we had a thread on the old forum on where the first film will end, i thought it might be when Gandalf leaves the Dwarves for the white council.
Not an exciting end to a film though, so the capture of the Dwarves by the elves might be the go.
The conversation with smaug is closer to the end of the book and by the sounds of it they dont no what Smaug is going to look like yet.
You could be right though Norc, wouldnt be the first time i've been wrong Wink

I always thought that they'd end the first film after Bilbo's barrel escape. I have no idea though...just seemed a logical and exciting place to end!

omg, I was just being sarcastic, why would they end the first movie there xD
I must agree with Ally here, I believe the movie will end calmy when Bilbo and co escapes in the barrels Wink Somewhere (I think the old forum) I have gone into detail in how I think and see the end of the first movie. I do not believe they will end the movie when they have arrived Smile and the white council fight will be in the first one.

It was a good suggestion nonetheless. A movie for The Hobbit fans, and a movie for PJ fans.

Only if Smaug is a Chinese drasgon, I s'pose. Is the Withered Heath anywhere near China? I can't find China on any of Tolkien's maps.

Mainly its the smell of buckie. You just cant get that authentic soaked in aroma in most properties. And of course location, location, location! I can roll to the nearest pub or roll quickly away in times of emergency- such as when its my round.
