Always adored Ted Nasmith's artwork, whilst Lee goes for a more realistic style and tone, Nasmith has a more heightened fantasy approach to the story i.m.o, they feel like illustrations to a story, rather than 'windows into a world' if that makes sense, no-one quite does landscapes like him:

Nasmith is my fave too, though I tend to think he's better at landscapes than figures (the Alqualondë pic you posted being a notable exception -- and out header image for that matter).

I'd agree with that, some of his peoples and persons look a little stiff/overly stylised but that goes back to my point about them feeling more like illustrations to a heightened fantasy story, rather than actively trying to be as real as possible, his Faramir/Eowyn illustrates this well:

I too like Jenny Dolfen's stuff.

Never seen Steamey's stuff before, even on TG, but it's pretty good. Kinda looks like mid-2000s video game rendering though. Shrugging

I annoyed/asked J. Dolfen to make Maedhros' hair longer [she has him shorn a bit during his ordeal with Morgy].

I can't understand why, as an artist with her own vision, she didn't just change her mind and do it my way.

In my mind Lobelia is skinny, with dark hair & a face that would curdle milk
