Now that you mention Petty. He does look like the guy from a Christmas Carol.

I love that Alan Lee can make something magical, that happened in a time long ago yet, keep it down to Earth, grounded, simple & easy to step into & live the life

It is lovely Chris, and that picture of Frodo looks as miserable & hopeless as you can get, ( He's probably been told its 3 films now & a chance of the Hobbshit )

Can't help but notice how clean and shiny smaug's teeth appear to be, didn't he use some of the dwarven skeletons as flossing?

Tolkien actually said that? It doesn't sound... right.

Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
Would've been a little strange for Tolkien to say that, given he spent more than a decade writing LOTR, which does not feature any dragons.

I was sort of thinking the same thing, but I'm glad Forest's Anti BS Maneuver (ABM) system went off.

Yep! Facebook quotes are no match for cutting-edge hacking skills, crowd-sourced information-gathering, and cynicism!
I don't remember who caught "Shakespeare's" quote about umbrellas, but I'll just imagine it was me. So that's about one misquote detected every two years. Man, if only government was this efficient!

Haha, yeah, except he would add an addendum including: how bad horse-poo smells, poop-rivers in cities, and general poop-themes. That man has a problem!
Anyway, ignoring all that, I came across this map in an expansion book for the Bree-lands written for The One Ring RPG. It is, as you can see, an illustration of Bree-town itself. Could a lore-master offer comment on the wide strip of land visible between the encircling hedge-wall and the town proper? Why does the hedge guard so much empty space? (the economy of the artist's brush notwithstanding.) That is to say, is there any reason for why the town is not held compactly within its walls?

Can we have a list of labels to go with the numbers?

Zoom your browser out and you'll see all of it, oh He-Who-Walks-Beneath-the-Hair. The right side of the picture is being cut off by the limitations of our screen-sizes. You can also right-click and View Image to see it clearly.

Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
I'm really quite curious about it. Wasn't Bree-town sacked at one point in the past? Is that why there's so much empty space?
