I actually went in and edited the URL in the BB code for you. You have to link to the image directly, not just to a page that displays the image on it.

Although I'm not too sure about this image myself it makes a nice change to see a some what more vibrant 'Doors of Durin' most of the art I've seen makes it look dead and dormant:

That's an interesting take on the setting. The first thing that comes to mind is that the Doors are not exactly hidden in that picture, but technically it's nice and it is cool to see different takes on various settings. I imagine Eregion might look something like that during autumn (although the Fellowship was there in January).

It's interesting, I read the book after seeing the film, but the movie made everything seem rather dead and cold, the books gives me images of a 'sad sereness' i.e peaceful and quiet but rather cold and lonely all the same, this image was rather better in terms of 'mood' than Jackson I think (even if the details aren't totally correct, though Tolkien inspired art is often based more on emotional readings of the text than hard fact)

Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
smashing artwork Chris Particularly like the Gandalf one, looks weatherworn enough to ask questions of & get a straight answer. Bloody Fili & Kili are still to young

Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
love the Gandalf one but the Kili and Fili one just looks like two young guys who just hit puberty. good for a likeness but I never cared for their look not dwarfly enough... someone should take that and make them look more like dwarfs of 80 years old with respectful beards.

I wish I could grow a goatee/mustache combo like Fili (the blonde one, whatever his name is) now, much less when I had just hit puberty. Not all of us are blessed with your kind of facial hair, Sin.
Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
I appreciate the attempt with respect to Gandalf's eyebrows, but note how far the brim sticks out on the sides of the wizard's head.
Although I guess you could say the brim was of a certain shape.

Re: Artwork inspired by Tolkien
The brim on Gandalfs hat must have been smaller than normally depicted, at least at the front to match Tolkiens description.
I imagine Gandalf had eyebrows like Dennis Healey-
Only even bushier.
