Petty's Purist LotR Edits [2]

"Ok, well, I much prefered this cut compared to how PJ handled it. Theres plenty I still dont like,but thats thanks to PJ & theres never gonna be anything you can do about that ! Film started where it should have, description of the Dwarf war/Azog was condensed enough to be informative & watchable. I liked the pace & flow very much & really couldnt see the splices ! I was more "into" this than I was with what I saw at the cinema. Do you intend to show more of Erebor at a later stage ? as not showing all the pomp & glory so early in the film was a much better idea I thought ! well done Petty ! well edited !! "

I like that you started at the proper beginning with Bilbo, and I noticed you cut the head butting also a good idea.     I dont know the film well enough to notice all the edits but it generally seemed less silly, I think you got rid of some ridiculous Ori stuff which is also great, cos he is irritating. I liked the idea of putting the Dale/Erebor Smaug flashback later on, and I liked your edit of that although I would have liked to see Dale from a distance because you dont know where it is, it looks like a continuation of Erebor like they are the same place. its a shame there wasnt really a perfect place to put it, as it was a bit abrupt after Bofur speaks, but I cant think where else you could have put it, I personally would have put the flashback in where Thorin is leaning over to whisper to Gandalf, but even that is bunging it in. So glad you got rid of Frodo and Thranduil. from what I have seen its a great improvement, and follows the story more faithfully without all the PJ padding. nice.

I cut a lot of nonsense from the party scene- so it doesnt descend into everyone shouting every few minutes, and yeah took a lot of nonsense out and focused it solely back on Bilbo too.

I personally would have cut the Azog battle of Azkaban scenes as it makes Thorin out to be the magestic hero a bit too much, but its ok that you decided to keep it.
I am so so glad you cut the orc hunters I really hated that bit of the original film. The trolls, I noticed you cut the parasite bit which is much better, and some of the fighting, good idea. Unfortunately the snot had to stay.
I am so glad you cut the Radagast Bunny nonsense and they go directly to Rivendell. I wish I had seen your version at the cinema it would have been so much better. Now I have seen it in English, I noticed how poor the dialogue was in places, like when Bilbo says about the Trolls, ''thats not good, thats not good at all' or something similar to Kili and Fili, that is so modern sounding, its very un-Tolkien, he would have never written anything so banal
